Abandoned Church
It all comes down to this point.
There is an abandoned church out in the countryside of Japan. There wasn't anything remarkable about this building. It looked like it had seen better days. It sat all around in an empty field in the dark. Not many people know that it exists. Probably because it's been kept well hidden. But why? Who was hiding this church and why?
Well, that was about to change.
"Anything yet?" Yukio asked.
"Hold on," Shingo said. The boy typed feverishly away on his laptop. Yukio stood by, waiting. They needed a different angle to stop this hunt against them. The tadpoles found all of the charms and wards. However, it was not going to be enough. That's where Shingo came in.
The sound of keys typing faded to background noise. Shingo pressed enter.
"Got it," he said.
"What did you find?" Yukio asked. He walked over for a look. A map was blown up on the screen. Shingo turned to him with a grin.
"This is going to solve our little problem," he said. The tech tadpole pointed to the little red dot on the screen.
"This is the source that we need to go," he said. Yukio narrowed his eyes.
"Where is it? And how do we get there?" he asked.
"From what I can see it's in the countryside," Shingo said. "As for getting there... it's going to take a little bit of work."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you want the long version or the short version?"
"There are two different versions to this plan?"
"The easy part is leaving Ikebukuro and going out to the country." Shingo frowned after saying that. Yukio narrowed his eyes.
"What is it?" he asked. Shingo tried to come up with the best way to phrase this. He pressed his lips together and figured that he might as well go ahead and say it.
"There are wards and spells around that field," he admitted.
"By whom?" Yukio asked.
"I have a good guess," the techie tadpole said. He didn't need to go any further on that thought.
"How bad are we talking here?" Yukio asked.
"This is some complicated stuff," Shingo said. "Older than Shinto itself if I am being honest." He rubbed the back of his head. It all made sense considering what they were up against. Yukio made a face as he took a moment to think.
"So to go up against a god, we will have to ask for a god to help us," he concluded. Shingo tilted his head as he gave him a puzzled look.
"And where are we supposed to get one of those?" he asked. Yukio looked him in the eye.
"I know a couple of people who can help us," he said.
Meanwhile, Rena appeared in front of that abandoned church in that empty field. She floated in front of the heavy wooden doors. A cold smirk came across her face. It was time for the final part of her plans.
The deity held up her arms. She closed her eyes and began to chant. The air around her felt like static. Rena could hear buzzing around her ears. She opened her eyes.
"Release!"
The barrier around this church shattered into little invisible pieces. Rena smirked as a large black gate appeared around the doors. She pulled out a small deep red crystal and walked inside. She paid no attention to the warm glow it was giving off in her palms. Good. It was doing the job that she designed it to do. However, the deity didn't focus on that once she was inside. The gate vanished behind her and the invisible barrier came back together in one piece.
And now the work could really begin.
