Munin

"Exosuit"

Current

1730 hours

Universe: 124293891

Trying to ignore the fact that he absolutely needed to start maintaining his exosuit, and deciding to just procrastinate for another half hour or so, Munin simply walked back to the fire, absentmindedly picking his tea back up and taking a sip of the liquid which was around perfect tea temperature now. He hesitated, looking at the remaining contents of the cup. Tea etiquette or caffeine... tea etiquette or caffeine... He decided on caffeine. To hell with the etiquettes from literally the ancient pre-calamity. He wasn't using a traditional tea set anyway. After watching Munin down a few more cups of tea later, Exodus finally spoke up.

"So. Now what?" Exodus. "Go help other people... or?" Munin shook his head.

"Negative. Just... stay here. Pretend you're busy or something." Munin said. "You have a sword on you, right?" Exodus frowned, but nodded nonetheless. Munin nodded, pulling out his own katana.

"Good. Just... I don't know, pretend to sharpen it or something." He muttered. "Besides. The other option is to go maintain our exosuits." Exodus looked at him as his face visibly paled slightly, knowing all well how risky it was to tinker with exosuits, especially out in the field. These things were meant for quick deployments, building on the Federation's shock tactics, not drawn out traveling and ambushes at inconsistent frequencies. Exodus sighed, before starting to tend to the weapon, doing everything in his power to keep the thing at least slightly combat ready. Munin followed suit, but was much faster to finish. And then he sorta just sat there, trying to figure out what to do next. The sun was setting now. Another glance at his watch told him the time. 6:30pm. With an exhausted sigh, Munin decided to just stop dancing around the task and just get it over with. He entered his tent, picking up the exosuit and spent the next 10 or so minutes trying to untangle it from its current state of chaos after being tossed into the tent. After this, he could finally actually get to maintenance. First off, getting rid of any augment modules on the suit, which in his case were the cloaking module, extra battery units and an experimental system codenamed 'Sparrow'. It basically allowed for him to 'blink', which basically enhances his speed by roughly 16000% for a fraction of a second, and it mainly only benefited his melee style. In order to conduct the repairs, Munin would have to be wary of disrupting the intricate pneumatics system of the suit, which can be durable in battle but a pain to tend to when doing repairs. While inspecting the system that snaked throughout the limbs of the suit, he felt something rough among the smooth metal cylinders.

Erosion.

Honestly, Munin didn't know whether to be surprised or not, considering that the metal components of the suit were supposed to be treated with an all-purpose anti-corrosive compound. At the same time, the sheer abuse that the suit went through without repair periods for an extended period of time was astounding, so Munin would just have to put up with doing the repairs. Luckily, the pitting on the cylinder hadn't reached the interior, so it would be easy enough to sand it off and reinforce it. Munin luckily had some silicon grease, and was able to get the parts working so that the suit didn't explode the next time he used it. So for the next few hours, he toiled away at that, putting grease where he needed and paranoidly running diagnostics every half hour to check that the suit wouldn't kill him while he worked on it, which the Athena VI models were very much notorious for doing. But the million small diagnostics he ran were little in comparison to the main core diagnostic, which, as he was slowly starting to realize as he stared back at the crimson red screen of his tablet, was going to be a lot more complicated. So apparently, the Coridium rods in the core were not very attracted to the concept of extended use without any sort of cooling, so maybe it would be intelligent to refill the cooling fluids.
