Chapter 32| the aftermath
Lucas
"Why don't you come down here like a man Allan? Too scared to come close?" Dad taunts
Allan smiles, "I'm good here, keeps me safe from the explosive"
The explosion is so sudden I don't get a chance to brace for it, I'm the closest to it but not close enough for it to do any serious damage
Except for my eardrums
We knew he was probably going to pull something like this off before we came, so we knew to take out his men within the first minutes of the meeting. We bought time for our people to neutralize them
In reflex, I throw myself against the big trash bins behind us, I grab onto a lamppost to pull myself upright
Son of a bitch probably used a quarter TNT, stuff people throw on New Year's Eve besides fireworks for fun at the expense of innocent eardrums. It doesn't do any damage (besides scaring the fuck out of you and damaging your poor ears) if it's properly used, but he purposely put it inside those wooden crates to make them go boom
I check for my sister and sigh in relief when I see Rune protecting her, but the relief is short lived as Prue, one of my most trusted guards and friend, contacts me trough the ear piece
"Lucas! Do you copy? I think I have eyes on Amir"
"Where are you?" I ask, there's no time to tell the others. She tells me she's still at her assigned watch post and where to find the masked man she thinks is Amir
I might look like the weakest out of all of us, and hell maybe I am, but my dad made sure we grew strong since we were children
I might not have the bulk muscle my brothers have, I'm on the leaner side but still muscled. I'm fast and I'm skilled
I repeat this to myself as I check my guns and hurry over to Prue
She's stationed on the rooftop of a warehouse of ours, so it takes me more than I would've liked to climb all the sets of stairs. The signal is poor inside the concrete building, so I only hear the static of her trying to reach me as I hurry
I throw open the heavy door with my gun aimed, just in case, not knowing what I'd find but stupidly thinking Prue would be alright and keeping watch on Amir aka. Hang
So I'm not ready when I encounter the sight of her body laying in a pool of her own blood, multiple gunshot wounds still seeping fresh, warm and red blood of her now dead body
I see the moment her life leaks out her eyes, just as they connect with mine I can just tell her soul has left her body knowing I got here too late
But I don't have time to dwell on it as movement catches my eye from my right, my gun already pointing at the culprit
Amir stands with his hands held up in mock surrender, with a cocky grin on his disgusting face, a single gun in his waistband.
He jumps from the rooftop as I shoot, I hit him but as I run towards the edge to see where he landed I know I didn't hit anything vital. I lose sight of him as he sneaks through an open door
