After Eli's nose was feeling better we end up going outside on a stroll to get out of that hot and very alcoholic house.
"So why does Asher hate me so much anyway" Eli asks looking off into the distance. "I don't know, I think he just doesn't like that things get handed to you" I tell him honestly.
"what gets handed to me?" he asks looking over to me.
"like football, you're like really good, but you miss a lot of practices yet it doesn't matter, you still stay on the team while others get threatened to get kicked off if they miss a few practices, I know that's something that bothers Asher" I tell him looking down at the path we're walking on.
Eli nods and lets out a little laugh "I don't even like football that much" in which I look back up to him "what?" I practically yell in which Eli nods "don't tell anyone" He laughs. "I only play it because of my dad, I mean I like it, it's alright, but it's always been my brothers thing" he shrugs looking back at the ground.
"Why do it then? Why does your dad care so much?" I ask curiously. "He just does, I mentioned quitting to him once and it didn't go over well. He wants me to be like my brother and get into college football" he tells me honestly.
Eli looks over at me and I'm slightly shivering due to how old it is outside, like an idiot I wore a short sleeve shirt in November.
In my defense I wasn't expecting to be outside. Eli takes off his sweatshirt and hands it to me in which I push it back to him. "I'm ok" I say trying to avoid shivering obviously.
"You are clearly cold" he says handing it back to me. "Come on, I won't wear it now anyway knowing you're cold so take it. Plus, I have a long sleeve on so I'm fine" he pleads with me and due to me literally freezing I take it and put it on.
"Thank you" I say shyly in which he smiles. "You know there's still one thing Asher said that bothers me" I tell Eli in which he perks up, "what's that?" he asks curiously.
"Do you really get rid of friends easily? Like Connor?" I ask him fearing what his response could be. He takes a minute to respond "I guess I can get rid of them fast" he admits "but I always have a good reason for it, like Connor, he just didn't want to hang out with me, he wanted to be a part of the crowd, the people I was with" he says looking back at me in which I nod.
"I guess none of them really cared about me when I was by myself, just when I could bring attention to them in a crowd" he admits. "Oh, that must make it hard to trust people" I tell him honesty in which he shrugs.
We talk a bit more before deciding that we need to get home as it was already 3am. "I have to drive Asher home, there's no way he's driving home" I laugh and Eli nods.
"I'll follow you back to your house then, I want to make sure you get home alright" he tells me walking into the house with me to find Asher.
"You don't have to do that" I tell him walking over to the couch where I left Asher only to find that he's fallen asleep there.
"I know, but I want to" he says, and I smile. "I can text you instead" I say waking up Asher. Eli rolls his eyes "you can't prevent me from following you" he laughs in which I nod "I guess I can't" I laugh. "Plus, you might need help getting him in the house" Eli laughs at a very loopy Asher.
As Eli predicted, Asher was very difficult to get to the car, not only was he still very intoxicated but he was also half asleep.
Eli helped me get him in after like 10 minutes of wrestling him.
"thanks" I chuckle headed to the driver's side and Eli nods "just wait until we have to get him up the stairs" he laughs.
We all make our way over to the house and I already dread getting Asher out of this car. I'm honestly debating leaving him here if it wasn't for the amount of trouble he'd get in from our mother in the morning. Which honestly, he kind of deserves and I'm definitely giving him shit for in the morning.
I get out of the car and Eli does to walking over to me and the car. "You ready?" he asks, and I shake my head "I don't think I'll ever be ready" I laugh and Eli chuckles to.
We get Asher out of the car and into the house. Me and Eli look at each other when we get to the stairs. "I wonder if he'd let me pick him up, it would be easier" Eli says in which I try to contain my laugh "there's no way" I continue to laugh.
"it's worth a try" Eli says before picking Asher off the floor, Asher is not happy about it but is also way too tired to actually fight him off. Eli carries him up the stairs and into his room, I try to keep my laugh down to avoid waking up my parents but it's a struggle because it looks so funny.
I snap a picture with my phone so I can totally mess with Asher in the morning and follow them. Eli sets Asher down on his bed and sighs in relief "I'm glad that's over" he laughs as I continue to chuckle. I put a blanket over Asher, and we walk out of his room and shut the door.
I head downstairs with Eli and walk him out. "Thank you for all the help and not killing my brother tonight. I hope your nose isn't too bad in the morning" I tell him, and he laughs
"I'm sure I'll be alright, i'll text you and let you know" he says standing outside the door of his car. I nod "now go inside so I can make sure you made it" he says shooing me away and I roll my eyes. "Ok fine" I say walking to the door before waving to him, he waves back and soon I am in the house and locking the door still wearing Eli's sweatshirt.
