Until I Found You

Chapter 10

"What the fuck just happened back there!" I ask him angrily. "Nothing, I have to go" he says trying to turn around but can't due to my grip tightening around his arm. 

"Nothing!? Why did you lie to me? Why weren't you at practice? How did you really get that bru-" I start rambling off before he stops me "Ok! Ok! God, just, ughh can I explain this all later, I really have to get going" he pleads. 

I can tell he looks apologetic and really, he doesn't owe me any explanations, we aren't that close. 

Hell, I don't even know why he showed up here today. I also suddenly realize that I am still holding onto his arm and for some reason that realization makes my skin burn. 

I quickly let go "ok fine, but you really do have to explain everything" I warn him, and he nods in approval before walking off. He gets in his car and drives away quickly not even telling me goodbye.

I walk back inside, and I'm greeted by Asher, "what was that about" he asks giving me a questioning look.

 "If I knew, I'd tell you" I joke which Asher nods before walking off into the kitchen, most likely going to get a cookie.

Later that evening I get a buzz on my phone.

Eli: Sorry about today, as far as practice goes, I really was just tired. Not sure why I lied about it, I guess it felt stupid of me to miss practice for something like that

Me: Everyone gets tired, there's no reason to lie to me about it though. Also how did you not think I was eventually going to find out about it, my brother is quite literally on the team?

Eli: Hey! Don't insult my lie, idk I thought you guys just wouldn't talk about it

Me: fair enough. So, how did you get the bruise?

Eli: Football

Me: No way, you didn't go to practice and that looked way to new. Are you like a pathological liar or something?

Eli: Ok fine, it's just embarrassing ok

Me: Oh, come on, you heard about me almost burning down my house today with that oven fire

Eli: oh yeah, now that was hilarious!

Me: Hey! Come on tell me

Eli: Its really nothing, I just fell down the stairs that's all

Me: how did you do that and why is it embarrassing?

Eli: Idk I just tripped. It is, getting a bruise that big and not even having a cool story for it?

Me: You lie about the weirdest things

Eli: Thanks?

Me: So why did you lie about my house being on the way to school?

Eli: oh... you found out about that?

Me: YES

Eli: haha I knew you'd never let me pick you up if you knew it was out of the way

Me: and why do you want to pick me up so bad?

Eli: isn't it obvious?

Me: is it supposed to be?

Eli: I like hanging out with you Miles

Something about this comment makes my cheeks burn red and I can't help but smile. How does he do this to me? How do I even respond? Shoot have I taken too long to respond already? Has he noticed, shit focus Miles.

Me: I like hanging out with you to

Eli: Good, then we should do it more often

Me: Ok, sounds good

Eli: Well, I'm gonna head to bed, goodnight, Miles, and I will still be picking you up tomorrow rather you like it or not

Me: You're crazy. Goodnight Eli

The next morning was fairly average, Eli was there to pick me up, we jammed out in the car and then walked into school and went to our first period together which was Mr. Fletchers class or who Eli likes to call "Fletch."

 I continued with my day as normal until I hear a voice yell my name as I'm walking into the cafeteria. I turn around to see no other than Aaron, Eli's best friend.

"What's up? I've seen you around with Eli quite often, so I thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Aaron, any friend of Eli's is a friend of mine!" He says cheerily holding out his hand. 

I shake it "yeah my names Miles" I say still trying to figure out whats going on here. Why exactly was Eli's friend talking to me, I mean he seems great, but I just didn't figure this was a possibility.

 "Well, it's nice to meet you Miles, you know how Eli is, never tells anyone anything so I had to go do it myself and find you" he laughs in which does get a laugh out of me to. 

"Yeah, Eli is quite secretive isn't he" I laugh. "Woah, he lets you call him that?" he questions in which makes me question why everyone is so weird about this nickname. 

"yeah?" I answer honestly but still slightly confused. "huh" is all Aaron can manage to get out of his mouth before Eli comes rushing over.

"What do you think you're doing?" he asks him, I can see the anger rising. 

"Chill I was just talking to your buddy Miles here" Aaron responds motioning to me in which Eli glares at him. 

"go" Eli tells him in which Aaron laughs and walks off waving to me. 

"Are you always this mean to your friends?" I ask him jokingly. "Only when they are being stupid" he reassures me.

Sorry for the delay in posting, i'm a few weeks before finals and you know how that is. I'm actually a few chapters ahead, just haven't uploaded :D
