Aarvik’s mother entered his lab and found him talking to an empty chair. He was smiling, his eyes filled with a rare happiness.
“You don’t have to go yet,” he was saying. “Just stay a little longer.”
“Aarvik,” his mother called softly, her heart breaking at the sight.
He turned to her, annoyed. “What do you want? Can’t you see we’re in the middle of a conversation?”
His mother’s tears fell freely. “Aarvik, she’s not here. Please, come back to us.”
He shook his head violently. “No! She’s here! She’s always here!”
He ran to the chair, gripping it tightly as if holding onto a lifeline. “Don’t listen to her, Aadhya. You’re with me. You’ll always be with me.”
"I can’t see him like this, please do something..." His mother cried, until his father spoke.
"I have an idea... But it’s so forbidden..."
"I don’t care!! I want my son to be normal again!" His mother shouted.
"Aarvik! Look who is here! Aadhya is here!" His father called out.
Aarvik emerged from his room, his eyes lighting up with love as he saw his life's love standing in front of them.
He rushed over and hugged Aadhya.
His mother looked at his father in shock.
"She’s a robot... A robot he himself created. I just ordered people to change the face of the robot to look like Aadhya."
"I don’t know any other way to solve this problem... I can’t bring the dead Aadhya back to life, but at least I can do it this way," his father said, his voice heavy with guilt. His mother cried softly.
"Aadhya, stop. I’m working on something," Aarvik said, and the robot Aadhya froze.
He sighed, looking at the artificial Aadhya, smiling at him.
He heard the doorbell and went to answer, instructing the robot Aadhya not to go anywhere.
As he opened the door, there she was...
Aadhya...
The one with the actual heart of a human.
