Aaradhya sat silently in the back seat of the car, staring out of the window.
Her hands were in her lap, fingers nervously twisting together.
She had too many thoughts running in her head, exams, secrets, and now a new bodyguard who scared her for no reason.
Veer was driving...
The car was quiet for a while. Too quiet.
He looked at her through the mirror and asked casually, “So....what do you even do in college? Sit like a ghost there too?”
She didn’t respond.
He tried again, voice teasing..
“Hello, madam? Do you talk or just breathe and blink?”
Aaradhya’s eyes snapped to him through the mirror.
She was already stressed...
Her head was heavy with pressure, and his sarcasm felt like a push she didn’t need.
Her voice came out sharp and cold. “Can you please shut up?”
Silence...
Veer’s jaw clenched...
His grip on the steering wheel tightened for a second. He didn’t look back at her.
Aaradhya realised what she just said. Her eyes widened slightly, and guilt started to rise. She hadn’t meant to be rude, not like that.
But everything was too much, and she let it out on the wrong person.
She sank a little lower in her seat, not knowing what to say next.
Veer didn’t say a word after that. But his face was no longer playful.
The rest of the ride was silent, tense and cold.
Veer parked the car outside her college. He didn’t say a word, didn’t even look at her...
Aaradhya opened the door and stepped out, but something tugged at her. She stopped, turned back, and walked to his window.
He glanced at her, ready to ignore, until she softly said, “I’m sorry.”
Veer blinked. He wasn’t expecting that.
She... apologised?
His brows raised slightly...
“Wow. I thought you’d turn out to be rude till the end.”
Aaradhya gave a small, awkward smile. “I was just... stressed after the attack. I didn’t mean to”
She stopped.
The words were stuck. She didn’t even know how to explain what she felt.
Veer stepped out of the car slowly, walking around to her. She took a tiny step back, surprised by his sudden closeness.
He looked right at her and said with a smirk,
“So... you really don’t remember me?”
She frowned. “What?”
He chuckled darkly and moved his hand up, showing a healing wound wrapped around his knuckles.
“I punched those guys to the ground. Nearly broke my hand saving you. And you just forgot me?”
Her eyes widened.
