Chapter 2 (katniss)

My eyes feel heavy like they are stuck to my eye lids. I can hear muttered voices " she can't be under anymore stress. she almost lost her baby. when she wakes up we will have to do a scan" my mother I believe says.
"Okay. make sure she doesn't know about it all yet" Haymitch says in a more hushed tone. what does he mean? I slowly move my fingers and toes to get something going and open my eyes. I stare towards everyone in the room. I try to sit father up but I end up yelping.
"Shh sh it's okay" my mother whispers. "the baby...the baby and Peeta no" I sob into her shoulder. "the baby is alive. we just need to do a scan to make sure" I don't ask about Peeta I doubt they would tell me anyway. Finnick appears from the corner "hello Katniss, there's no news" he hangs his head. "how's the baby?" He asks. "they have to do a scan so I'm not sure but it's alive" I give a weak smile. "Can you stay?" I ask. He is a friend and I think I need some support. " Of course katniss I have no problem" he pauses "Peeta. when we last spoke he made me promise to look after you both if anything happens in the arena. He thought he was going to die. But I'm gonna keep it now. I think you need it." tears fall and I smile "thankyou finnick."
A women, a doctor I believe about 50 walks in " hello katniss I'm doctor Andrews. let's look at your baby shall we?" She says.
I just nod and look at finnick who unpops my jump suit around my stomach. I give him a thankful glance. "let's see. I'm gonna put some gel on now."
"It's cold" I smile. She puts a wand on my bump and moves it around. "there's your baby" she says, making me grip finnicks hand out of nerves. I turn to the screen to see. Doctor Andrews sees my face relax and just smiles " now katniss you need to rest it was very traumatic for you both passing out like that. Would you like to know the gender?"
I look at her. Do I? "Urr yes I would. For Peeta" I say rather hoarse. "You have... a baby girl!" I smile at everyone in relief.

Sat on the bed with finnick, Haymitch walks in "they're back" I turn to Finnick who has lost all colour. "can we see them" I plead.
"Yeah you can..." I stand up to this "but be careful" he adds. I take finnicks hand and lead him like a small child until we reach the end of the corridor. He sees Annie. the poor girl from back home. He picks her up and kisses and whispers in her ear which makes me slightly jealous. Gale and Boggs come into view " thankyou. Both of you" I say thankful that they did.
I hug gale. "katniss, the gas is easing off now you should go see him" she says gently, out of breath.
Then it hits me. I'm still pregnant. he hasn't seen me in so long it might be a shock. I don't care. I run as fast as I can carry myself I reach his door where Haymitch is. He takes my hand and leads my through. Then I see him. tears fall from my eyes "Peeta..." I say choking on my own tears. he stands and smashs my head through the glass and I am pulled back by Boggs who had rushed in. Peeta starts screaming as I'm held back by the wall "YOU MUTT. TOU STINKING MUTT. YOU KILLED MY FAMILY"
I don't know what to say. where's my Peeta? Then he notices my bump "wait... she's pregnant? Who's is it? Gales?"
"You don't remember?" I say. He falls to the floor staring. "The pictures and videos ugh" He cries.
"Peeta. This baby is yours" I say. "No no I... I thought..." He stutters.
Our daughter begins to kick so I quickly place his hand on where she is kicking. "Katniss..." Is all I hear because Haymitch is behind him with a needle in his back. He slowly collapses to the floor and I take him in my arms before they can take him. With is lifeless body on my lap and I begin to sob "what have they done to you?"

I am sat in a chair beside peetas bed where he is strapped down and passed out still. I begin to talk " Beetee said they have hijacked you. That you think I would hurt you. No. I know I wouldn't and neither would you to me. You have a daughter Peeta, like you always wanted. We're having a girl!" I start to cry again. "I love you" I say. I have lost my words and I have said what I wanted. I move the blonde curl away from his eyes and admire how he still has such a beautiful face even with cuts and bruises. I slowly see his eyes flutter open "is that true? All of that..." He says
