Chapter 12 (peeta)

"What?" I say barely audible. Finnick just looks at me blankly "I thought you knew..." he trailed off wondering if he should have mentioned something in the first place. "I've gotta talk to coin" I rush to the door but Finnick stops me. "peeta, you can't just demand to stop a war. the revolution is about fairness and peace but for that we need to fight. I can't just watch you stop all of this. think of willow... we can't risk another games" he pleads me not to leave, standing by the door. he is right, I have willow to think of now and katniss's well being. "okay. okay. I won't but but I guess we have to fight. "we need to tell katniss" he says and I nod.

We explain to katniss everything but she hasn't said a word. "katniss" I say kneeling the best I can on my bad leg. she stares at me with tears rolling down her cheeks " we have to go don't we?" She looks at me then at willow and her heart and breathing monitor. I nod "it's gonna be okay Kat. we have to stop the games for her and all the children and future children" she wipes her teas away and nods and mimes 'yes'. 
Then coin walks in with haymitch "I have heard that y'all know the news. we leave in a month" haymitch announces.
"Okay. better get started" katniss says standing up which surprised me "for her" she gestures to willow. It has begun.

Laying in bed in the dark. I notice Kat is awake "hey, what are you thinking?" I ask. silence follows..."if one of us does die what will the of us tell willow?" I shake my head. "No that won't happen I won't let it. understand?" I say . she looks up at me "okay. I love you you know that right?"
"Of course I do you tell me everyday" I lean down to kiss her. "we need to get some sleep. training starts tomorrow"
Like it or not I have to go to war and protect them both.
