Chapter 28

Lu Xang went to sleep after Lu Fan came.

Lu Ran and Kang Zhing also wanted to speak to him but Fan told them to let him rest and told the girls to go to sleep as they would also be tired.

Kang Zhing and Ji Gang were taken by Lu Ran to her room and the three of them settled down with some water to drink.

'Are you sure you don't want to eat anything Gang and Zhing?'

'No...I am so tired. I want to sleep too.' Kang Zhing said.

'No one is sleeping till I show you something first.'

'What is it?' Gang was excited.

'This is for us. I extracted all of it with my own sword from Xi Mang's body.'

'WHAT? What is it? Open it Gang!' Zhing suddenly felt a current in her body but Ji Gang got scared.

Lu Ran laughed at Ji Gang's reluctance, opened the packet, took out teeth, bloody and tattered clothes, and Xi Mang's broken armor and spread them on a paper.

'You did it yourself?' Kang Zhing asked in astonishment.

'Yes! And no one helped me. I took him on with this sword of mine.' Lu Ran said with pride as she pulled her sword and kissed its handle. 'Zhing this is actually for you. I know you have trouble sleeping after the attack. I did this only to let you know, that there is a sister who can fight for you, even if she doesn't know the law.'

Zhing got up and hugged Lu Ran. 

This is what a sister's love feels like. Lu Ran is truly my own. 

Ji Gang got up and tugged at Lu Ran's sleeves and she too was hugged by her.

The three ladies then went to sleep.

Xi Mang had a few gold coins, some clothes, and he went out towards the outskirts where a desolated house stood. He had also stolen medicine for his wounds and some snacks. In his flight, he willfully forgot that his mother was still inside, because in any case, she wasn't of any further use.

Mang got down from the horse and knocked at the door of the house. A lady appeared and he said:

'I am a stranger, seeking a place to live. Is there place for a guest here?'

'Yes!'

Su Ning saw a man in black clothes. Her last guest hadn't returned, so she wanted someone soon but the new guest looked bruised.

'You are wounded? I don't want trouble.' She reluctantly decided to let him go.

'I am a merchant and was attacked by some robbers as they wanted my money. I just got dressed at Lu family clinic and have to leave Mi for Avang in 2 days. Can you not keep me?' Xi Mang tried to appear humble. Su Ning was unsure but his face and his words showed that he was a man of good family, and he indeed drew from his pouch some gold coins as well. What harm was to let him live for two days? Plus she was so poor, and also had a plain face, what could he steal from her? 

She thought about it for a while and said:

'This is a small place, see if you still want to live. I provide 3 meals for the guest and 2 meals for horse in 10 copper coins.'

'I only have gold coins.'

'No problem. This will cover your stay for 15 days and if you wish to leave earlier, then I will get change and give it to you. If it works then let me know.'

Su Ning had no copper or silver coins because Xi Jiang only gave her gold coin and never asked for change, but not every guest could afford to be this generous and hence, she decided to offer this alternative.
