Chapter 25

The monk was shown out of the palace.

Palace guards who escorted him, once out, apologized for any disrespect that he may have felt at their hands. The monk told them, that he understood their predicament and won't be angry at them. He advised them to abide by dharma and not partake in evil even for the sake of loyalty, because only that keeps one's soul safe and strong.

After giving his blessings, monk took the carriage and went to the Lu mansion where he updated Lu Fan and Lu Ran about the arrest of Lu Xang. While speaking to Lu Fan privately he said:

'Let Lu Ran blossom. You know it will help her grow even more powerful. Let her soul pick up from where she left.'

He bid them farewell, as being a foreigner he couldn't meddle any further.

The monk then boarded a sturdier carriage that would take him to the Himalayas to greet his master.

After a few minutes, a palace guard came to the Lu mansion, threw a sealed envelope at the Lu mansion guards, and said:

'Give it to Lu Ran.'

The guard took the letter and delivered it to her.

'Xi Mang is asking you to come alone?'

'Yes mother.'

'As I predicted.'

The time has come. And Xi Mang is in for a bloody treat, Lu Fan thought.

'Well! Then you go first Lu Ran, I will start after you, in 20 minutes.'

'You won't accompany me?'

'No. But this would,' Lu Fan took a heavy sword and handed it to Lu Ran and then said: 'I want him to know that you can take him on, without any of us behind you. Fight him Lu Ran, we are depending on you.'

Lu Xang had told his wife about his conversation with the Himalayan master in detail. Master had explained to Lu Xang that as Lu Ran initiated the first psychic contact with him already hence, she will be able to use her past life experiences and knowledge in any challenging situation, but to be able to do this, she herself should desire this, even if in passing.  

The master also explained that a psychic connection like the one she initiated breaks the physical barriers of the mortal world. And once a soul attains this benchmark, it only expands its range and is able to channelise energies and knowledges attained in all the previous births combined. In Lu Ran's case, the master had advised her to not wed if not truly in love, as he had seen her soul's journey in his meditation.

In her last birth, Lu Ran was a mighty warrior who attained the rank of grand general early but tried to retire soon afterwards as she felt disenchanted with the life she led. She felt stifled and couldn't be free anywhere as the responsibilities of the kingdom clung to her till the very end. In that birth, Grand General Lu Ran also did many virtuous acts towards humans irrespective of their nativity and also towards the flora, and fauna.

As she attained great karma currency, the Universe wanted to give her a gift but Lu Ran asked only for freedom, peace, and happiness. To fulfill this wish, Universe chose the Lu family where she would remain free from all types of constraints. But the Universe also knew, that she would likely suffer from a karmic connection, as a good and happy energy is bound to attract a powerful energy vampire as well. And, thus, the Universe added a hidden gift for her; any time she would feel vulnerable or threatened or would feel the urge to defend someone, all her vidyas (accumulated powers and knowledge) and strength would come to her. 

After suffering from Xi Mang's abuse, the master predicted that it would push her soul to figure out that without the strength of her own arms, no one would be able protect her. This, the master said, would enable her to use her accumulated powers.
