'Because, this is a confession letter, Ji Gang. My father would have burned it. Lu Ran would have torn it, but only madam trusted my abilities and my legal mind enough to know that this is a confession letter and it should be treasured and must be read by me. She is truly deserving of sir.'

'I would have torn it too miss. I don't understand much but this is humiliation.'

'We must go by law. Only law is our savior and a source of balance in turbulent times like these. Keep it safe for me. Possibly give it to madam. Hand me a bit of stationary and see if madam could come to visit me. Lu Ran should come too.'

'I will update madam, they had just gone out. I also take your leave now. Namaste.'

Lu Fan, Lu Ran, and Ji Gang, appeared after lunch, while Kang Ji kept himself busy talking to Kang Zhing. She had recovered vey well and had started walking with cane.

Zhing wanted her case to be brought for a public trial but she knew that since Mang was calling the shots, hence, she needed as much help as she could get. She could bank on Xi Jiang and Lu family, and in her view, this was enough.

'I will always trust you. So, what should we do?'

'Madam, this letter is in Song Wu's handwriting but it doesn't have his seal. We need more of these confession letters from his side where we do not negotiate but let him bribe us. This way, he will get implicated decisively otherwise he may escape the death penalty and could merely get exiled.'

'Okay here is the stationary, write whatever you want. Just keep us in loop. Your mind is sharp. Make sure that you make him blurt more secrets of Xi Mang and get him to name Mang's supporters. Xi Jiang is no longer in the palace. He has gone into hiding as there was a plot against him.'

'WHAT?'

'Yes. He is living on the outskirts in a widow's cottage. I cannot tell you anymore than this. But we also have our people in the palace and they are trying to keep emperor alive or else after Mang's succession, we will have to fight to death. The emperor's seal of succession is also with Xi Jiang. So, we do have some time. Build your case Zhing. Our Xi Jiang could be found any moment. We must prepare him to take the throne.'

'Yes madam.'

Zhing didn't need any push to go against the two monsters but now that Xi Jiang was also in danger, all because he was trying to be of help to her, she only had utmost urgency in her actions. Plus, she liked his sweet soul and kind temper with all her heart. In her eyes, he had become the perfect man; deserving of entreaties of love, and endless care. She checked her heart and went back to her present reality, and in this reality Xi Jiang was in danger and she must help him. 

That night after deliberations with the Lu family females, she wrote to Song Wu:

How do I know this is even Song Wu writing to me. He is a jail bird and cannot write to me at all.

Clearly you are a fake as you neither know what happened that night, how it happened, and when it happened. Where is the seal of Song Wu in this letter? If you dare to make jokes like these, I will turn you in. Beware. This is my last warning.

Kang Zhing'

The letter was indeed picked up by a man in common clothes. He was followed by Lu mansion guards on orders of Lu Fan. From the information relayed by guards, it became clear to Kang Zhing, that Song Wu was trying to strike a deal by himself and Mang didn't know of it as the guard went straight to jail and not to the latter's palace.
