It was one hell of a day with Lu Ran pacing up and down unsure of what her life would be like.

The moments of passion with Xi Mang suddenly seemed to put her off as she remembered his calculating, and domineering nature.

What did I like in him?

Ji Gang was asleep on a bed especially laid for her outside Lu Ran's room. As Lu Ran looked at her sleeping peacefully, she suddenly felt a pang of guilt rise in her heart.

I put her in danger because of my impulsive affair.

She sighed and paced quietly around her bed and suddenly it felt that she may have a way out. Xi Jiang was Xi Mang's brother; he could help her. She ignited a lamp and then wrote a letter asking for a meeting with him.

She went out of the room, called for a guard and handed the letter over and told him to give it to Xi Jiang at his palace.

If Xi Jiang could help her convince the emperor and empress and kill all means of engagement then that would be great!

Hoping for a solution, she went to her room and decided to give birds a grand feast of seeds for a better rate of success. She always did something good before taking on an important task. This has been her habit since her childhood and now was part of her habit.

The Lu family guard did his job and returned. However, Xi Jiang's guard he handed the letter to was Xi Mang's spy.

This guard hurried to his master and explained to him that Lu Ran herself sent this letter for a secret meeting with Xi Jiang.

'I give her so much love and she is colluding with my arch-rival! Clearly the merchant blood is acting up in her. I need to claim her now or she will really bring me great dishonour.'

'You take this letter and deliver to Xi Jiang as it is. Meanwhile, where is the spy I put on the Lu Mansion? He has given us no reports for such a long time. See if he was caught and neutralized by the Lu family. Got it?'

'Yes, Prince.'

'Then go.'

'Lu Ran. Lu Ran. You are quite desperate to pull Xi Jiang in your little schemes. I will kill all your plans. In this life, you will have no one but me. From head to toe, you will do as I want. It is time to teach you how to be my woman.'

Xi Jiang read Lu Ran's letter and was about to go out when he suddenly saw the shapeless white pearl.

'Lu family patriarch is a very devout man. He would surely like it.' He picked it up, and went out on his steed.

He felt light in his heart after reading the letter. He felt important and, in any case, he had always liked the Lu family. What was the harm in meeting their daughter?

Xi Jiang was shown inside the hallway and he told the attendant that he was here to meet Lu Ran.

However, he asked to see if Lu Xang was there as he wanted to greet him first.

The attendant showed him inside the study as Lu Xang was free.

Happy to see the prince, the two chatted for a while and the young prince informed him that it was his daughter who asked him to come today.

'Oh! I was about to call on you for a matter as well. Let Lu Ran come. I will explain in front of her.'

'Yes! I also actually came to tell you that on the journey we went together, I met a mystic. I think you must have seen me going to him with vegetables and flour on the arrival itself.'
