"Sam, why this restaurant?" I complained.

"Because it's good!" she countered, sliding into a booth.

We were at some place that literally looked like a run down shack. Except it was supposed to serve you food. Fuck no. I can smell the grease halfway down the street. It's disgusting.

"Fine, but I'm not eating anything," I said.

"Channing, it's Monday afternoon," Sam said. "You've got to get something to get you through the week."

Just as she said that, a waiter walked by carrying a tray of completely greasy, fried, disgusting looking food.

I gave Sam a look. "Yeah, well, this food's not going to make it through me tonight, much less the week. It won't stay down in my stomach. It's just going to come right back up."

"Fine, don't eat," Sam said. "But a little food could do you good."

"What's that's opposed to mean?" I joked.

"It means you're a friggin' twig!" Sam yelled with a laugh.

I rolled my eyes. "Not I'm not. Come on, I'm not an idiot."

Sam gave me a look saying, 'Bullshit!'

"Whatever," she muttered.

The waiter came to our table now, took Sam's order, and returned as quickly as she came. I refused to get anything. It's disgusting.

"So where'd you go during school yesterday?" Sam asked.

"What do you mean?"

"You and Jason both never showed back up," she stated. "What happened?"

I shrugged. "Nothing really to tell."

"Oh, shut up and spill!" Sam exasperated.

I sighed. "Well, we just talked. That's it, really."

"Uh-huh, sure," Sam chuckled.

"What? I'm serious!"

"Talk about what?"

"Well," I debated weather or not to tell her. "He said that I should stay away from him. That he's dangerous. And it'd be dangerous for me."

"Yeah, doesn't surprise me," Sam said, leaning back in the booth.

"What does that mean?" I asked. "Why is everyone so scared of him? He's really not that bad of a guy. Maybe a little rough around the edges, but nothing too major."

"Ha, Channing," Sam laughed. "McCann is dangerous. He's not the kind of person you want to hang around. People don't talk to him for a reason."

"Why? What does he do?"

Sam shrugged.

"So you don't know, yet you judge," I stated. "Is the whole school that way?"

She nodded. "Jason's... scary. Like he wants to murder someone, and he'd be completely okay with it. That kind of scary. There's rumors... Channing, they're not good."

"But you don't know anything for a fact."

"No..."

"Okay, new subject," I muttered as Sam's food arrived, and she literally shoved down all of it in two minutes. Fat-ass.

"Okay, how about the fact that the devil himself just walked in," Sam said, glancing behind me and pushing away her empty plate.

"What?" I said, snapping my head around. Sure enough, Jason was walking in with two guys that were definitely a lot older than him.
