"Jason!" I screamed.

When I didn't hear anything, I was sure he had left with Zach and Alex.

I tugged and pulled harder on the ropes binding me, with no luck. I put my head on my shoulder and used it to move my blindfold off my eyes.

I was in an abandoned warehouse. There was nothing inside except for me and what I could recognize from the ticking of a clock counting down, a bomb.

I struggled to pull myself out of the bonds faster now. Alex said four minutes, and a good minute or so had already passed. I pulled and pulled, and tugged and tugged and got nowhere.

My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to burst out of my chest.

Right when I came to the conclusion that Jason had left me to die, and that I really was going to die, I felt a hand on my own, and seconds later, the ropes fell free from my wrists.

"Jason?" I choked out.

"Yeah, it's me," he said, panting. He moved to my feet and cut the ropes there, freeing me altogether.

"Dammit Channing, I'm so sorry," he muttered, helping me to my feet. "I-"

"Talk later, run now," I said, pointing to the bomb.

He nodded. Taking my hand in his, he pulled me along as he started running. Well, more like sprinting.

"I tried disabling it!" he said while running under an archway and down a hallway. "Alex knows how to make them and he made it so that I wouldn't have enough time to disarm it before it blew!"

"I had thought for sure you had left me!" I yelled as we came to a stop at a closed door. "I thought I was going to die!"

"We both might if we don't get out if here in the next thirty seconds!"

Jason tried the door to open it, only to see it wouldn't budge.

Twenty... Nineteen... Eighteen... Seventeen...

"Shit!" he swore. He rammed his shoulder into it a few times, but it still didn't budge. "Back up."

I did as he told me.

Fifteen... Fourteen... Thirteen...

He took a step back and kicked the door open. Sunlight streamed into the dark warehouse and he grabbed my hand again and continued running.

Twelve... Eleven... Ten...

"We need to run! Go!" he yelled.

Nine... Eight... Seven...

"I wouldn't leave you! I said I'd get you out, and I'm trying!"

The wind was heavy outside as we ran as fast as we could. My hair was whipping in it and all around my face.

"How long-"

BOOOOMMM.

The blast that followed was so strong that both Jason and I were launched off of our feet. We landed about thirty feet away in the grass from where originally were standing, which was a good three hundred feet from the warehouse.

"Ouch!" I yelped.

I felt something running down my forehead, and I assumed it was blood. Dust and smoke and ash was everywhere, even this far away from the original place of the bomb.

I heard Jason groan in pain, probably much like I was doing.

"Channing?" he called, his voice somewhat strained.

"Ow, yeah, I'm okay," I grunted. My ears were ringing from the explosion still. "You?"

"I'm okay if you're okay," he said. "Son of a bitch, that hurt."

I laughed lightly. "Tell me about it."

I saw him pull himself up with a little difficulty, and he made his way over to me.

"Jesus, your forehead," he said, touching it lightly. "Shit, I'm so sorry."

"Is it a cut?" I asked.

He nodded and ripped off a piece of his seared shirt. He started wiping it gently, probably cleaning the blood off of me.

"Like the one on your arm?" I asked.

He didn't even look at it. "Don't worry about it. It's nothing."

"Jason, it looks pretty bad," I argued. There was blood seeping down his arm, and it looked worse than anything on my forehead.

"It's nothing," he repeated. "I've had worse. The cut on your forehead is pretty bad. Might need stitches..."

When he trailed off, I sighed. I could tell he was really upset with himself. There was a light in his eyes that just showed his anger. That anger was directed towards himself.

"Jason, I'm okay," I said softly. He continued to gently wipe the blood away from my forehead, and didn't say anything.

His jaw was clenched and he was silent.

"Jason," I took the hand that was wiping away the blood on me. "Look at me."

His brown orbs met mine, and I smiled softly.

"I tried to disable it so we could avoid this altogether," he said, jaw still clenched.

"I know," I said softly.

"Alex wanted to kill you only because you were there at the shooting in the alley and because you know a little more about me than everyone else."

"Jason, I'm okay," I said again. "My forehead doesn't even hurt."

Okay, that was a lie. It stung like a bitch, but I was trying to comfort him. His eyes snapped back up to the cut, and the anger returned.

"We should get you to a hospital," he murmured.

"Only if you'll get your arm looked at, too," I argued.

"Fine," he said.
