"Channing, wait up!"

I turned around and saw my best friend Lizzie weaving in and out of the other students in the hallway. She looked like a madwoman, pushing through people, trampling ones who wouldn't move out of the way, yelling at the ones who were stopped in front of her. But that's Lizzie or you. She was about as subtle as a gun.

"Hey," she said, panting when she finally caught up to me.

"Hi," I replied, stopping at my locker.

"What's up?" she asked, hyper as always.

"Not much," I said, opening my locker and switching out a few textbooks and binders for different ones. It was Friday, so I had History next. "Just packing my entire life into boxes."

"I still don't understand why you're moving!" Liz practically screamed. "It's not fair!"

"I know, trust me," I sighed. "But my dad got a job transfer out there. We've been over this, Liz."

"Yeah, yeah," she muttered. I think she hated it more than I did, and that's saying something. "Did you tell Hunter yet?"

My expression darkened. I opened my mouth to say something when an arm slid around my waist and pulled me into their side.

"Tell me what?" Hunter asked, kissing my cheek.

"Um, nothing," I said quickly. "It was nothing. Nothing at all."

I mentally face-palmed myself. Something about me: I'm a terrible liar. I tend to talk too fast or repeat myself one too many times.

Lizzie gave me a weird look, and after a few seconds, said, "Um, I'll catch you later, Channing."

I nodded, and wiggled out of Hunter's grip.

"So, what were you and Liz really talking about before I showed up?" he asked, leaning up against the lockers.

I turned back to my locker, and pretended to be busy with something inside of it.

"It was nothing," I repeated, biting my lip. How the hell was I supposed to tell him I was moving?

"Baby," he complained.

"Hunter, it's not good," I said quietly. "But it's nothing. Don't worry about it."

"Channing, baby," Hunter pried as softly as he could. "You're a horrible liar. Plus, whatever it is, it can't be that bad. It's okay. Just tell me."

I sighed and hesitated.

"Any day now would be nice," he said sarcastically. Little did he know that what I was about to say was going to crush him.

"Okay, okay, sorry," I said quietly.

"Well?"

"Um, well, I don't really know how to tell you this, but..." I trailed off.

"But what?"

I swallowed. "I'm moving. On Sunday."

Hunter fell silent. His face that was calm and soft and caring a few seconds ago was now emotionless.

"I was going to tell you sooner, but I didn't know how, and-"

"How long have you known?" he interrupted in an aggressive tone. Shit, he was pissed.

I mumbled it under my breath.

"How fucking long?!" he shouted.

"Um, like, a-almost two weeks," I stammered. "My dad got a job transfer, and-"
