"I cannot believe this!" my dad yelled, shooting up from his spot on the couch.

"Dad, wait-"

"I thought you were more mature than this, Channing! Based on how you came into this world, I thought you understood how much of a mistake having sex before marriage was!"

"Hey! You told me Ava was the mistake, not me! And Zane is only a few years younger than I am! Was he a mistake too?!"

My dad made a growling sound in the back of his throat. "No. The mistake was coming here."

"I'm an adult!" I screamed at him as he started storming towards the door. "I can make my own decisions!"

Stopping right before he got to the door, he turned back and yelled in my face, "Fine! Make your own decisions! But don't expect to hear from me any time soon!"

With that, my dad threw the door open, walked out, and slammed it behind him.

As soon as it was shut, I burst into tears and collapsed on the floor. Jason, who had been silent up until now, ran over to me and cradled me in his arms.

"Whoa, wait. Baby, why are you crying?" he asked in a soft voice.

I sniffed and dug my face into his chest. "Of all the times he could have picked to come here, it had to be right after . . . "

"Right after what?"

I swallowed. "Right after the best night I've ever had," I whispered, embarrassed to say it.

Jason's grip around me tightened. "It's okay," he cooed. "As much as I don't like how he was talking to you, I'm not going to allow him to ruin my morning. You know why?"

I lifted my head to meet his eyes. He lifted a hand to wipe away a tear that had escaped. "Why?" I asked.

"Because I had the most amazing night with the girl I love last night," he said, smiling.

I smiled. "You're incredible."

"Well, I know that, but how so?" Jason said cockily.

I let out a laugh. "You say or do the sweetest things I never would've thought you could do or say. When I first met you, you seemed like the typical badass who was incapable of saying something like that."

"I am a badass," Jason defended.

I laughed again. "But you're a badass with a heart."

"A heart just for you," he said with a cheeky smile.

"Cheesy," I chuckled. "But I like it."

Jason stood up and helped me stand up as well. We were both still in towels, so we quickly went to change. Five minutes later, I was cooking breakfast, waiting for Jason to come out of our room.

It wasn't long before he came back in.

"I love you," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist.

I smiled. "I love you too, Jason."
