Felix yelled at them for hours. It certainly seemed like it took hours. In all reality it was twenty minutes. It's all the same though. Alpha was just happy he was kind of buzzed while the other yelled. Alpha already knew he was on Felix's bad side. He doesn't think he's making much progress on that honestly. Still, his time distortion unit would fix any disagreements between the two anyways. He could easily fix any and all problems. Death wasn't even something he had to worry about because of the helpful unit attached to his armor. Thank the Lord for the UNSC.
Either way, he left when Sharkface and Felix started fighting again. He was kind of sleepy anyways. Maybe he should have asked Sharkface for a piggyback ride. On second though, he would probably snap him in two if he asked. That could always be a thing between him and Tucker anyways. The only thing was, was that he really just liked being carried. Maybe that's why Tex always had to carry the team? It didn't matter, what mattered was wondering where his team was now anyways. Alpha wondered if they were far off. He wonders if they ever got the epsilon unit to safety. Probably not knowing Caboose. Alpha hopes Caboose made it out of there alive at least. He had no idea where Tucker went as he himself was first to ship out. Honestly he wasn't even sure if Tucker got shipped out of Blood Gulch. The though of his friend starving alone in Blood Gulch stuck in his mind. That brought back the other people in the canyon. If the people that weren't there to help Wash were he only ones left in Blood Gulch, then that means Doc, Sister, Donut, Lopez, and Tucker were all left behind in the canyon. He really hoped they were all doing ok. Those thoughts accompanying him back to his tent. Until he wasn't even trying to hide his sadness.
The thoughts of his friends being in great danger became all he could think about. He wasn't even paying enough attention to getting back to his tent anymore just wandering around aimlessly. That was until Hargrove's voice cut into his thoughts. A small computer screen lighting up with the older mans face.
"Hello Alpha, I trust you're doing well"
"You didn't tell me this was another war Hargrove"
"Oh did I forget to mention that bit? My bad, I'm assuming you'll still be willing to help me out? I wouldn't want to take matters into my own hands now would I?"
Church doesn't even have to look up to know he'll be holding the small remote. He looks up anyways and soon regrets his decision. There, on the screen in front of him, is a picture of about half his team. The two fellow blues looking up at him with smiles on their faces. There's a new person there with them as well. A blue soldier with yellow markings. Alpha wonders if the knife belongs to the man in the picture. Tucker and Caboose are smiling down at him from the screen. He wonders if he'll threaten the safety of his men. Alpha doesn't think he could stand the thought of his idiotic and prevented friends dying. The thoughts from before and the feelings now tearing him apart with anxious thoughts.
"You know, Alpha, you have some good looking friends here. Even a former freelancer to watch over them. I would think carefully about your next move. Do not disappoint me"
Alpha can't move. The threat of his friends almost more than he can take. He wonders if he was to tough on them for just a moment, remembering the times when Caboose would cling to him like a monkey. He remembers the times Tucker would sit on the top of their base to drink beer and watch the never setting sky with him. Wonders how they even stood to be around him.
The sigh that escaped him wasn't on purpose. The agreeing to whatever Hargrove had planned for him was. He clearly had them in a position to be killed. It scared him to the core. So he agreed to the data mining mission Hargrove had sent him on. Just a quick little thing and he could be out of there quick.
So he went to his tent and tried to not think about the person who had tried to kill him the night before.
With a horrible 'sleep' behind him he set out to go find the base he needed information from. Taking the memory card that he had been given by Felix in the morning. Alpha was quick to arrive at the base he was assigned to. It took him a while but he found the massive computer he was looking for. He cloaked himself and waited for the usb to download. The sound being a lot more conspicuous than he remembers it being but it's pushed aside as the data chips sings at him that's it's done loading. He's quick to clip it to his side and set on his way.
That is, until he hears a noise. The sound of footsteps alerting him to another's presence. The armored steps coming closer. Alpha would say he could almost feel a heartbeat to accompany a set of lungs. His breathing was heavy and his chest burned. Whoever it was, was just outside the room. He could see the body in the hall. Grey and yellow armor stared at him, or through him. Alpha's glad he took Locus's advice, cloaking in these bases is a must. Granted he'd rather not have Locus or Felix know what he has. Least they try to take if for themselves. Alpha night not think Hargrove would let them, but he doesn't trust the man as far as he could drop him. That was only because he actually could throw the man. Either way, the armor colors reminded him of someone, he just couldn't put a finger on who.
Ehh he figured, doesn't matter anyways.
