Joe - September 16th
"Nick, dude, happy fucking birthday." I said as I embraced my brother into a tight hug.
"Thank you, bro. Did Aubrey agree to coming tonight, finally?"
I smiled. "Yes, she did. Aubrey and Ronnie will be here at 6 o'clock sharp."
Nick smiled at me. "I'm happy for you, Joe. You deserve a shot at being happy with Aubrey."
I smiled. "Thank you, Nick."
-----
"Happy birthday to you!"
Nick blew out his 16 candles and we all clapped and cheered for him.
"Now, who wants cake?" My mom said as she began cutting the first slice.
"Hey," I heard a voice from behind. I turned around to Ronnie and smiled at her. "Hey, now you and your boyfriend are the same age." She immediately turned red.
"Joe, I've told you a hundred times-"
"I'm kidding, kiddo," I said as I grabbed her and squeezed her tightly. "But a little birdie told me he might have a crush on you, so a birthday kiss might suffice as a pretty decent gift," I whispered into her ear and winked at her as I walked away laughing.
"Why do I feel like you're laughing because of something devious?"
"Because, Aub, in the past month, you've gotten to know me pretty damn well. Almost as if you've known me for years," I said with raised eyebrows and she laughed.
"I guess so," she said as my mom handed her a piece of cake. "Thank you, Mrs. Jonas," she said as she took a bite out of her cake.
My mom smiled at Aubrey. "Please, dear, call me Denise."
Aubrey smiled and nodded. "I will."
"You deserve a shot at being happy with Aubrey"
I sighed and smiled at Aubrey. My mom handed me a piece of cake and I thanked her.
"How's the cake? Is it poison?" I asked Aubrey.
"Gee, I sure hope not. That would really suck," she said with a grin.
I chuckled and took a bite out of the cake. "I must admit, it's better than I expected.
She laughed. "Only the best for the Jonas boys."
-----
Nick
"Hey, happy birthday, Nick. You're almost a dancing queen!" Ronnie said to me with a smile.
"Thank you," I responded with a laugh and hug. "Enjoying the cake?"
She nodded as she took a bite. "I was extremely tempted to shove your face into that cake, by the way."
I began laughing. "I don't doubt it, Ronnie."
She smiled at me. "Can you give me a tour? This house is a lot bigger than the one down the street from me."
I smiled at her and linked her arm in mine. "Come with me."
-----
Ronnie was looking at my baby pictures and laughing. "You had such chubby cheeks!"
I shook my head. "Yes, Ron, I know, thank you," I said as I snatched the picture from her and she stuck her tongue out at me.
"You're no fun, Jonas. You don't let me tease you, like, ever."
I smirked at her. "Now why would I let you when you're much more fun to tease?"
She frowned. "You know, I was gonna give you something, but I've changed my mind."
"Oh yeah? Is that what Joe was whispering into your ear about?"
She stared at me with her mouth wide open and I grinned.
"You saw that?"
"My eyes haven't left you all night, Ronnie."
She began to blush and before I knew it, her lips were on mine once again.
