After a few hours,
By the time the placenta was out, their son was deep in sleep, Dr. Lada has told them that the baby is totally healthy and that they can even leave tomorrow.
"I told you it would be a boy." Yoko said to Faye, who was sitting on the side of the bed.
"Yeah, guess I was being delusional." Faye said rolling her eyes.
"You want a girl, we can try again." Yoko said and Faye just looked at her in disbelief.
"What?" asked Yoko.
"I can't believe you, you just gave birth and you're talking about trying again?" Faye said, shaking her head at the thought.
"So what? It's not like we'll have another right away, we can try after a few years." Yoko said as a matter of fact.
"Still, once is fine, you don't have to go through all this again."
"Didn't you say, we can have as many as I want?" Yoko reminded, lifting one of her eyebrows towards Faye.
"But -"
"But what?" Yoko cut her off.
"Arghh, I could never win against you." Faye said, accepting her defeat.
"How can he sleep while we are talking?" Yoko asked, looking down at their son, he was sleeping in her arms.
"Babies are like that." Faye said, looking at their little baby.
"He looks like you." Yoko said, smiling down at their son.
"He does, we could pass him as my twin, if only I had my childhood photos, I could have showed you." Faye said and immediately went silent as everything came back to her, Yoko understood too.
"Anyways, what do you want to name him?" Faye quickly changed the subject.
"Do you want to hold him?" Yoko asked her.
"Yeah, give him to me, you must be tired." Faye said and carefully, Yoko placed him on Faye's arms, he stirred slightly but didn't wake up.
"Aw, he looks so small in your arms, let me take a picture." Yoko said and took her phone from the side of the bed, she clicked multiple pics of her wife with their son, once she satisfied she put her phone down.
"You didn't said what you want to name him." Faye reminded Yoko, her eyes fixed on the baby as she cradled him so he doesn't wakes up.
"I want to name him Alex." Yoko replied.
To say that Faye was taken aback would be an understatement, the only word that escaped her mouth was, "Why?"
"Because as time passes by and we grow old, I don't want you to hear this name and be sad, I want you to be happy, to be proud when you hear it. I see how your past still hunts you, everything happened because you're an intersex but look at him, if you weren't an intersex, we wouldn't have had this carbon copy of you." Yoko said and Faye looked down at their son, who was now awake and looking back at her.
"I want us to embrace what we have built and embrace your past too, this is what I wished for on my 21st birthday, a little family with you and I could bet your mom has kept your childhood photos."
"So, I was right, you asked for a baby." Faye said and laughed.
"Yeah, well, it did mean the same thing." Yoko replied.
"You should get some sleep, you won't be able to sleep once everyone is here." Faye suggested.
"We should, that's why I told everyone not to come here before 4, how did you sleep last night?"
