Why today? Today of all days, your glasses decide to break. The one day that you have no contact lenses and have to go to work. Serving drinks becomes a lot more difficult when you're short sighted and not wearing your glasses. Your hand-eye co-ordination ceases to exist and it's pretty much impossible to see people who want to order, never mind making out if the glasses on the table are empty or not in the room, where the only lights are strobe lights coming from the DJ's set up.
Today was one of those days, (or nights, since your shift was from 4pm - 2am) where you were running back and forth, doing so many different things all throughout the hotel.
You had been asked to move extra candles to the housekeeping store on he fifth floor. The candles were currently on the second floor. And employees aren't allowed to use the elevator, for obvious reasons.
So you had already done about six journeys, and were now on your final journey. You had left the bag with the holes in it until the end on purpose, hoping that if you did, something else would need your attention and you wouldn't have to be the one to try to wrap your short arms around a bag with at least five gashes in it, holding tiny tea lights. But no such luck tonight.
You had safely made it up the stairs, avoiding causing any casualties due to two drunken lovers rolling over the candles and stumbling over the railing. Walking down the empty hallway crowded with doors, you squinted once more, figuring out the location again of the storeroom where you had previously visited. You could hear drunken voices, as per usual and ignored them. You turned around, seeing two girls stumbling up the corridor, trying to locate their room. You were busy thinking about helping them when you felt yourself hit something hard, causing you to drop all the candles. You scolded yourself, assuming you had walked into the wall, and bent down to pick up the spilled candles.
This time, it was your head that was slammed into the wall, causing you to fall completely backwards. You mumbled to yourself, telling yourself not to be so stupid as you got up.
"Ahh, sorry!"
You stumbled backwards, in shock.
Surely the wall can't be talking? Since when did walls have accents?
Something was holding onto your wrist, helping you up.
Okay, so now the wall is helping me up.
You looked up, finally. The face looked weirdly familiar.
He was incredibly handsome, and his white hair was finger combed out of his face. His eyes were smiling widely at you, and his lips were curved upwards. He was beautiful. So beautiful that you suddenly felt your self confidence rapidly depleting.
"Are you alright?" he continued, his accent still shining through.
"Oh, oh! Yes, thankyou. Sorry!" you said everything at once, realising that you had forgotten to speak while admiring his face.
"Enjoy your evening," you smiled at the stranger, and kneeling down to pick up the candles as quickly as you could.
"Let me help," you saw his large hands appear across from yours, picking up twice as many candles as you could.
"You have small hands," the stranger chuckled, the tone of his voice making you feel lightheaded, "my friend has small hands, but your's are even smaller." he said, laughing now.
"Yeah, I know, it makes carrying the tray a little bit more of a challenge, but it's alright" you smiled, before putting the last of the candles in the bag.
"Thankyou" you said, before beginning to walk on past him.
"Oh, wait!" You turned to see him, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Can I have your number?"
Okay this is so weirdly familiar, what is actually wrong with my brain.
"Oh, um sorry I don't know my number!" you answered honestly. Although, working in the hotel bars, you're used to men under the influence of alcohol asking for your number. Obviously, it would be stupidly dangerous to give it out anyway.
"Well," he pulled out a piece of paper, writing his number on it, " here's mine." He smiled at you in a way that you had to remind yourself to keep your mouth shut. You nodded, stuffing the paper in your pocket and walking away, towards the small store.
You reached the wooden door, and began to turn the handle. The door shook, but didn't open, making you realise you forgot the keys. You dropped the bag and made your way down to reception on the ground floor for the keys, taking your time. You glanced at a clock above the staircase before you made your way down, seeing it was only 12am. Two hours left to go.
Once you reached reception it was already 12:15am, so you decided to go equally as slow on your way back up the many flights of stairs.
The hallway was dark now, so it was up to you to walk down and activate the lights. This wasn't the easiest thing to do after the weird paranormal experiences you've had in the hotel in the few months you've worked there. But you sucked it up, and made your way down the hall, humming the tune to View to take your mind off the darkness.
You stopped dead.
Realising why the stranger seemed so familiar. You did know who he was.
You knew very well who he was.But it couldn't be.
You started walking faster towards the store. Walking quicker will make your brain stop acting so ridiculous, and wake you up. That way, you won't imagine seeing Jonghyun's face and body and perfection in the hotel you work in.
You got to the door and started fiddling with the keys to open the door. Finally you unlocked it and went in. You walked to the back of the store and around to wall, the lights activating automatically as you go. You opened the box and put the candles in, turning on your heal.
You tried to scream, after seeing another body in the room, but a hand covered your mouth.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. "
Jonghyun. His puppy eyes were scanning over your face.
He took his hand away slowly, as you just stood in shock, as he reached behind you and gently took the hair tie from your locks, letting it flow down.
He ran his fingers through it softly, caressing your face, and stroking your cheek."I really didn't mean to scare you, I just couldn't help myself. "
He pressed his lips to yours. The heat travelled through your whole body, as you brought your hands to his. The feeling was magical, and unlike nothing that you had ever felt before.
His lips left yours all too quickly, as he rested his forehead against your's before standing up straight. His sweet and innocent smile was changing to charming, and soon to seductive as he took his plump, bottom lip in between his teeth.
"So, call me?" He said, before winking and walking out of the store, leaving you weak kneed and light headed.
I'll call you.
