For hwangmarie

You open your eyes.

It's Monday again.

You roll over and glance at your phone. Your alarm was set for 6am, but you woke up forty-five minutes early, as per usual. Your brain doesn't seem to care about the fact that you stayed up until 2am watching videos online.

You got up out of bed, seeing it was light outside already, and decided to chill out for a bit, and take your time getting ready.

7:45am rolled around and you left the house, and began walking to class. Walking down the streets, hearing the birds chirping and cars humming along the roads was soothing. But you still preferred to put your earbuds in. So that was what you did. You could tell you were getting closer and closer to your destination by the increasing frequency of bus stops and random stores.

But there was one bus stop in particular you looked forward to passing every morning.

It was right at the bottom of the hill. You turned left and saw the familiar sign, and you knew that in a few minutes, his bus would pull up and he would run up the hill to catch up with you.

The same as he did every weekday morning.

You paused your music and could hear his speeding steps and heavy breathing getting closer and closer to you. He pulled out your earbud, and you turned to see him smiling, in one of those "please don't be sick of me yet" smiles. You smiled back, making his grin grow even louder. He looked down at his shoes, still smiling to himself.

He broke the silence, asking the same three questions he does every time.

"Are you keeping well?"

"I always am, aren't I?"

"Are you going to agree to let me buy you a coffee this morning?"

"Not this morning," you chuckled.

"Okay, well. Do you, know me yet?"

That one question you hated. Well, it wasn't exactly the question that you disliked, it was what you had to reply that you didn't like.

Lying.

You said no. You always said no. And he would never tell you his name. Because he obviously didn't want you to know.

But you did. And that was what made your heart sink.

"Maybe I will take you up on that coffee this time," you ignored his question.

This had been going on for almost a year almost every morning. Enough lying had been done.

You walked into the coffee shop that was ten minutes from the bus stop. The coffee shop that you would both normally part ways on. He asked you what you would like, and told you to find a nice table for you both to sit at.

You took  a seat by the window, and you saw raindrops begin to fall faintly from above.

What would you say? How would you tell him? How will he react?

You heard the sound of ceramic kissing wood and turned to see a coffee being placed in front of you delicately buy him. You admired his hair as it flopped over his face when he looked down at the table. He took the seat facing you, but didn't seem relaxed.

This was it. You told yourself just to say it. Get it over and done with.

"I have something to tell you," you both said at the first time.

"You first," he gestured.

"No, it's fine, you go." You smiled, suddenly chickening out.

"Okay," he began, taking a deep breath, " I know you say you don't know me, but I know you. Not in a creepy way, please believe me when I say that. I- it's just that, " he took another breath, and paused for a moment, "I don't want you to see me any different-"

You knew what he was going to  say.

"Minhyuk," you said, and his eyes immediately shot into your's, "I know."

Silence fell over you,  and he sat there looking completely shocked.

"I am so  sorry, for all the lies. I didn't want you to see me as some fangirl, and you seemed much happier that I didn't know and... Well, I don't know.  I don't know why I did it,"

Silence once again.

"Maybe, maybe I should just go. I understand that you won't want to see me again. Goodbye Minhyuk," you stood up and walked out into the rain and began walking back the way you came. No way were you going to class. You were already late, so there wasn't really much point. And besides, it's not like you were going to be able to concentrate. The fact it was pouring rain didn't even bother you. So you began wandering around a park you would pass by. You knew there would be a sheltered bench at the other side, and you wanted to be there.

Minhyuk sat still, just staring at your untouched drink. Thoughts rushing through his head. Of course he knew you were a fan. All those times when you would have their songs blaring into your ears. When you would try and hide your phone before he could see his photograph on the casing.  He knew.  But he didn't care. He  knew you were doing it because you wanted him to be happy, and not to feel like he was just another celebrity. You wanted him to feel like every other normal guy for once, and you made him feel like that. He stood up abruptly, grabbing his bag and running in the direction he saw you go.

You had made it to the bench, it was raining even harder now, and you were soaked right through to your underwear. You sat shivering, holding your knees to your chest to try and help you heat up. You rested your head on your damp jeans, sighing to yourself. Imagining what other ways you could have handled the situation to have a different outcome.

"Hey," you heard a voice, but ignored it, "you're  soaked, why didn't you go home? You'll get sick."

You shut your eyes tighter, knowing you were making scenarios up in your head. You felt arms around you, pulling you into a warm body.

"I knew the whole time. I, I wanted to give you this," he handed you a small bag with tissue paper pouring out of it. "I hid it in my coat so it wouldn't get ruined. I know  it's not much, but, I wanted you to know that I'm okay with it. I don't care if your a fan or that you lied to make me happy. I appreciate it. Lying is hard to do, it bears more weight on the soul partaking in the action than the receiver sometimes. And that happens to be exactly your case."

You said up and opened the gift. A simple silver bracelet, with an M on it. You looked to him,

"Thank you Oppa," you said in almost a whisper. He placed both  hands on your cheeks.

"I love it when you call me that" he said, before softly pressing his lips against yours.
