Not a request
You switched on the play station. All you spent your spare time doing these days was playing games. It was all you wanted to spend your downtime doing. Work was exhausting you and school work was numbing your mind, and the last thing you wanted to do in your free hours was something that made you even more tired than you already were.
You opened the your favourite online game and scrolled through your phone, letting the loading screen play in the background. The music faded out and you joined a lobby straight away, ready to just let yourself become completely immersed in this fantasy world and take a break from the real one for a while.
You were on your third game, and you were feeling good. You were doing well, nothing was stressing you out. The game match began to load up as you set your phone down and picked up your controller. You began playing once the match timer reached zero, but you could hear background noise coming from another random online player. Often people will leave their mics on by accident or sometimes just to shout at people, because most of the time their team mutes them anyways. You normally did, but something about this voice captivated you. It was deep, not screeching like those other voices normally were.
And that's how it all started.
You both did pretty well in the game, you and this user. They ended up sending you a friend request and since then, anytime you were both online, you played together. You would plug your mic in and talk to them every time you played. Their name was Marksman233, so you just nicknamed him Mark. It was quick to say if you needed his attention and easy to remember. And he called you by your nickname from your username, (Y/U/N - Your User Nickname).
Months had passed and you would message each other through the mobile app even if you weren't online. You felt like you knew this person, although you had no idea who they really were. But you didn't care, at the end of the day they were just your little gaming buddy.

You had just logged on once more, and he invited you straight away.
"I swear you're always on here when I'm on", you laughed as you joined.
"Yeah, because I know what times you're going to be here and I wait for you," he said back. His voice was rich and soothed you. You had to snap yourself out of it, reminding yourself that there is no way you can fall in love with a voice.
You laughed in response, as you heard your phone go.
"One second," you said, muting yourself and removing your headphones. You picked up your phone.
"(Y/N)! What time shall I come over to get ready?"
"... What?" you said, completely confused.
"The party, tonight!"
You remembered, you were going to a masked ball tonight. You gasped, saying, "Oh no! I forgot! Um, " you checked the time. The party was starting at 8pm, it was 5pm now. "Okay, head over now and I'm going to jump in the shower and bring all your stuff, okay?"
"okay, I'll leave now!"
"Alright, see you soon!" your friend hung up the phone and you placed your headset back on.
"Hey, Mark, I'm really sorry. I need to go, I forgot I had a party to go to with my friend,"
"Ah, okay, no problem! I hope you have a good night!"
"Yeah, thanks! Okay, see you!" you said, not waiting for a reply before turning off the playstation and putting everything back in his place before you began to get ready.
