The Truth

Electra lies next to me on the bed. Pulling my limp, exhausted body into her arms. I pant, trying hard to catch my breath. She runs her fingers through my hair and kisses my temple.

"Calm down, babygirl," she whispers, "it's over."

'It' being my punishment for slapping her. Instead of spanking me, she decided to make me cum until I couldn't cum anymore. Tears fall down my cheeks and she wipes them away, holding my body against hers.

"That was..amazing," I whisper between breaths.

Electra chuckles.

"It was supposed to be a punishment," she smirks.

"It was. I didn't think I could cum again after the fourth one," I say.

"And yet you came six more times. A record for you."

I punch her chest weakly and she laughs. When she pulls my hair and I gasp, looking up into her eyes, she lowers her voice.

"I love you," she says softly.

I smile as she claims my mouth. Kissing me with a fire and with desire. When she pulls away, her eyes are lost. Haunted. I reach up and caress her cheek.

"I love you more."

Electra shakes her head, grabs the back of my hand, and turns to kiss my palm.

"Not," she kisses my palm, "possible," she finishes and kisses it again.

"You're right. I haven't stalked you," I grin.

Electra groans and drops her head onto the pillow.

"I'll never live that down, will I?" She asks.

"Nope," I smile innocently.

Electra laughs and shakes her head. Then her eyes go distant again. Staring at me with worry.

"Where are you right now?" I ask.

She blinks.

"Talk to me. What's going through your head?" I ask.

"I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want...I want you safe always. I want...me...safe," she confesses.

I grab her hands and pull them up between us, kissing her knuckles as I reply.

"Then don't. Stop doing it," I say.

Electra shakes her head.

"I can't," she whispers.

"You can. There's other things you can do. You can come work with me if you want. I'm sure there's something you can do," I say with hope.

Electra's eyes tear up.

"I can't," she repeats.

"Why?"

"Because. I'm obligated to. My parents they...they made a stipulation on my inheritance. I either go where they tell me to go, and bring back something useful, or they won't give me my inheritance. Nothing. They'll cut me off. Leave me on my own. And they won't come help me if someone finds out who I am. I'll be nothing to them."

My heart sinks more with every word. Breaks more when I notice how shaky her voice gets. Then gets enraged when I realize what she's telling me.

Her parents are the sole reason she risks her life like this. The only reason she goes out and gets hurt trying to find ancient tombs and relics.

They're the reason she was taken in Darién Gap. The reason she was there. Which makes more sense why they knew she was taken. And why they were so calm about it.

"I thought they still went out exploring?" I ask.

Electra shakes her head.

"No. They take almost everything I bring back and sell it for themselves. Or keep it to show off. They don't explore anymore. They just take the credit," she explains.

I look towards the door. The anger coursing through my veins. We're still in their house. I should give them a piece of my mind. Electra grabs my arm as I start to get up and pulls me back down.

"No," she says, reading my mind.

"You don't need them. Fuck your inheritance. You don't need it. You have me," I say.

Electra shakes her head.

"I'm not letting you take care of me," she replies.

"Then come work with me. Earn your money safely. Being safe has to be better than being in danger constantly."

I can see the wheels spinning in her mind. The debate she's having with herself. I squeeze her hands in reassurance.

"You have no idea what they're capable of," Electra says.

"I think I do. And I don't care. Come with me. You don't need them. Move in with me."

It comes out of my mouth before I realize it. But I don't regret the offer. She won't be able to stay in her house if her parents cut her off and I'll be damned if she sleeps on the streets.

"Rhea.." she whispers.

"Just say yes. Say yes, Electra. I don't care what they do. Let them do their worst. I want you safe and happy. So come be safe and happy with me."

"Yes," she says.

A smile creeps across my face.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Let's go home."

We get up and pull our clothes back on. When we're dressed again, I grab Electra's hand and squeeze it. She smiles at me and I don't miss how her eyes are wet, and there's fear staining her pupils as we leave her parents' house.
