Drowning Herself In Vodka

"Bye dad. Love you, too." I said as I led the girls back into the house from our dinner out with him. We have to spend more time with him like going to his house every other weekend and apparently we are buying an even bigger house than they have right now. This life that my dad wants us to have sounds perfect, but it's not the life I want to live. I want to have my "boring" life here in Chula Vista. I want to live here with Ryan. I know we got into a heated fight, but if I weren't moving this would've never happened.

"You guys better go start getting ready for bed. It's almost passed your bedtime. Especially you, Iz." I said to the girls while ruffling Izzy's hair. She laughed and fixed it. Putting it back to its original style. As they were walking up the stairs, I heard the garage door start opening. Uh- oh. My mother's home.... She walked through the door wearing her scrubs and a riled looking expression on her face. The first thing she did wasn't a "hi" or a smile. She just simply stepped passed me going towards the freezer to pull out a big jug of vodka. She turned to me and finally spoke.

"Why do you keep staring at me? Are you dumb or something?" she asked while she took a swig of vodka from her shot glass.

"Yeah. I am dumb. But don't worry I'm sure that gene was from you." I said back with a snicker.

"Look little girl. I don't have time for your bullshit. I'm going out." she pushed past me and went straight to her room so she could change.

"Oh? The vodka wasn't enough for you?" I paused for a second and then continued speaking. "You set a very good example for your kids. Let me go get a notepad and jot this down because I wanna grow up to be exactly like you!" I said with fake enthusiasm.

"You're just jealous because you can't get a guy. Or friends." she smiled in satisfaction thinking she hit a weak spot and I was going to start crying. I just rolled my eyes in response.

"Okay mother. You totally got me there. I'm gonna go up to my room and cry now." I fakely wiped a tear away and left her standing there because even though it's the first day of school, my math teacher decided to give us homework. I ran up the stairs and started to tackle my homework.

30 minutes later I was done with my homework. Geometry is easy. I hope its like this for the rest of the year. I got off my bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower, brush my teeth, and take off the makeup from earlier today.

I got out and laid down on my bed, pulling the covers up to my neck. I snuggled into the warmth wishing that Ryan was here holding me close telling me that everything's going to be okay even though it's not. Maybe moving in with my dad won't be all that bad. Maybe it will be fun. Maybe I will meet someone there. Someone better than Ryan. I finally fell asleep thinking about what would happen if I went through with this new arrangement. Like I had a choice.

"Welcome to your guys's new house" my dad said opening the door to his Dodge Charger. I stepped out first taking in the newness of this town. I saw his wife and her children standing at the door. One of them looked my age but the other one looked a little bit younger. The house was pretty big. Scratch that. REALLY BIG. It was like a mansion, well not a mansion, but close to one. There had to be at least five rooms in there.

Abruptly it changed scenes and I was now in a huge dining room eating this wonderful italian food that my dad made. We were all laughing and having fun eating our dinner. Me and that girl from the front door were really close friends.

It changed scenery yet again and we were at a party for our neighborhood and there was this boy there. He was talking to me. He was really cute. He scooted closer to me as if he was comforting me. I then knew I was crying. I wiped the tears away quickly because I did not want this really cute guy to see me cry, but the tears kept coming. He wiped my tears with his thumb and laid my head on his shoulder. He started to talk but all that came out was the sound of an alarm. Beep, Beep, Beep-
