Today was the day. The day that every girl at our school was waiting for, and even girls from different schools that were invited by someone from our school.
"Iz, you ready to go to Yaya's house?" I called from the stairs.
"Coming!" she yelled back with her little voice. Bree wasn't going because she apparently had plans tonight. "Bye Savanny" Izzy said hugging my legs.
"Bye, Iz. Be good or I'm gonna get Ryan to bring the tickle monster the next time he comes here."
"No! I promise. I'll be good!" I chuckled and kissed her cheek.
"Have fun tonight with Yaya." she nodded her head and left out the door. I made sure she got into the car okay and then ran right up to my room to do my hair. "It's going to take a while", I thought as I ran up to my room.
It took about an hour and a half to do my hair then I did my make up. That didn't take very long considering I pretty much only do eye make up. Now, it's time to put on my dress. I checked the clock to make sure that I wasn't too late. It's only 7:00. I blew out a deep breath that I was unknowingly holding in.
The doorbell rang and I was instantly filled with nervousness. I slowly walked down the stairs, my stomach churning with every step I took. This is my first dance I have ever been to. Let alone been invited to.
I opened the door slowly and saw the handsome boy in front of me. He was wearing a really nice tuxedo. It looked like it could have cost a fortune. "You clean up nicely." I told him turning to lock my door. He still hasn't said anything yet and I was starting to worry. Does he think I look terrible? Do I have lipstick on my teeth? Does my breath smell? In insecurity, I exhaled in the palm of my hand and smelled it. Nope it isn't that, but I still got my breath freshener out of my clutch just in case.
"You look absolutely stunning." Ryan said surprising me.
"Really?" I asked with a blush creeping on my cheeks.
"Uhm, Yes! Did you look in the mirror? You're beautiful." he said smiling.
"Aww pshh. Thanks. You're beautiful too." I said poking his cheek and walking around him.
"Beautiful? But I'm a guy. Ryan Kayne is not beautiful. But he's pretty damn hot." I rolled my eyes and kept walking. He smiled and shook his head while jogging after me.
"So? Guys can be beautiful, too." he laughed and grabbed my hand leading me to "his" car.
"My lady." he said in a posh accent while opening the door and bowing after. I examined his black 2009 Tacoma. "It's my dad's. He said I could borrow it tonight, but if I ruin it in any way possible, he will kill me." I laughed and got in. He ran around to the other side and got in as well.
"Where to, beautiful?" I looked up and started tapping my chin as if I was thinking.
"Macaroni Grill." he nodded his head and pushed down on the gas pedal.
"Are you excited for tonight?" Ryan asked me with one hand on the steering wheel the other holding my hand.
"Yeah, of course I am. And also scared.." I looked down at my lap and started to play with my dress.
"Why?"
"Well, I've never been to a dance before. And something always seems to go wrong."
"You've noticed that too?"
"Well, yeah. Who hasn't?"
"We don't have to go if you don't want to."
"No. I want to go. What's a life without risks, right?" I looked up and smiled at him.
