A/N - This chapter was, of course, inspired by the absolute banger of the century: Freak Like Me by the Sugababes. For this one, reader is Billy's twin sister, who is literally Billy's complete opposite tbh. It's a bit short, but I hope you all enjoy it.

Eddie was pretty used to getting a hard time from the jock types that littered Hawkins High. I mean, he'd stopped giving a shit what they thought of him back when he was 13, and now, 6 years later, he was pretty sure that their attempts to get to him were nothing more than a slight inconvenience.

And then, about nine months back, the Hargroves had moved into town, and the inconvenience had started being less verbal and more physical. Billy loved nothing more than throwing his weight around, and Eddie, being the resident freak, was an easy target, even if he never gave them the reaction they wanted.

"Fucking Freak," Billy spat, shoving Eddie hard into the locker, the padlock digging into his ribs, likely to leave a bruise he would have to explain away as being no big deal.

And to be honest, Eddie wasn't sure what had come over him. Usually, he was so good at just ignoring it and getting on with his day. But this time, as Billy started walking away down the hall, Eddie had said something he knew he would regret.

"Yeah, I didn't hear your sister complaining about it last night, though," he called after Billy, watching Billy freeze, his shoulders tense. For a moment, Eddie was certain he was going to get the crap knocked out of him. I mean, everyone knew that Billy had a short temper, and no sane teenage boy would accept a slight like that, not about their family and definitely not about their twin sister. But, much to Eddie's surprise, Billy hadn't turned. He hadn't gone completely feral. He'd just kept his back turned and walked away.

*Time Skip*

You were on the verge of a total meltdown when a knock came at your window, and your eyes had landed on the one person you didn't want to see right now.

"What do you want, Eddie?" you bit out, glaring at him as he crawled through the opening and into your bedroom, not actually noticing the way you were watching him.

"Didn't get to see you after school," he breathed, standing to his full height and reaching up to untangle his hair where it had been mussed during his climb to your window. "Wanted to come and kiss you goodnight-"

His words had trailed off when his eyes finally landed on you, the small smirk slowly fading from his lips when the glare had registered.

"What's wrong?"

"Are you joking?" you answered, looking so damn frustrated that it had left Eddie on the backfoot, fighting to make sense of what was happening. "You told Billy," you pressed on, and suddenly, realisation had dawned on Eddie's features.

He held up his hands, as if defending himself. "Baby, it wasn't like that. I didn't mean to say it-"

"If he tells my dad, I'm screwed," you pressed on. "You can kiss Clifty Falls goodbye. There's not a hope in Hell he'll let me go on a camping trip if he finds out. Shit, he probably won't even let me out of the house."

"Sweetheart, you know what Billy's like-"

"Yeah, I'm well aware, Ed. And somehow, even though I'm the one who shared a womb with him and currently shares a fucking bathroom with him, I'm not the one who caved and told him; you were."

Eddie let out a soft sigh. "I'm sorry," he finally breathed out, biting down on the inside of his cheek. "I didn't mean to say it, I swear," he pressed.

You hesitated for a moment, considering Eddie's apology. "You're so lucky I've got a good poker face, you know that?" you finally bit out, watching as he released the deep breath he'd been holding in. "I told Billy that we're just friends and that you must've just been saying it to rile him up. I'm pretty sure he bought it, for now."

Eddie nodded, moving a little closer to you, reaching out slowly, his hand wrapping around your wrist and pulling you into his embrace. "I'm sorry, Baby. You shouldn't've had to lie to him because of me."

You sighed softly, finally letting yourself cave, your forehead resting against his chest. "If he catches you in here, all that lying'll've been for nothing, you know?" you hummed, hearing him chuckle slightly.

"Yeah, I'll head out-"

"You don't have to," you murmured, your fingers bunching in his t-shirt, stopping him from moving away from you. "You've just got to keep quiet. The doors locked, anyway."

Eddie smiled softly, his hand running up your spine lightly. "Oh, you little rebel," he chuckled lightly.

"Unless you want to go home," you pressed. "Because, right now, you're being way too loud."

"Sorry, Baby," he whispered, leaning down to press his lips to yours, his touch feather-light. "I'll be quiet as a mouse, I swear," he added, keeping his voice low.
