"desperate times call for desperate measures" which was what harry lewis repeated in his head when he had to ask his nieces dance teacher to be in a sidemen video. however that one awkward encounter may have lead to a lifetime of happiness.

lottie today was the day of my dance school's annual showcase and i could not wait. it is the thing we work towards every year and is always such a highlight. i love it. granted it is very stressful but my students have their dances memorised and it's gonna look amazing. each class has three dances to perform and there is one solo from someone in each age group. the venue we had hired was now sold out which is completely insane and i know harry is coming with some of his friends which makes me feel so loved. other than faith, i've never really had many friends, i've always kept my circle very small, so the fact that harry's friends have been so welcoming and i can now call them my friends makes me honestly over the moon.
it was 6:30am when i woke up because i needed to leave the house at 7:30am in order to get to the venue for 8:30. i got changed into a cute workout set and made myself a quick cup of tea before packing my bag for the day. i put in my outfit for the performance, my makeup bag, loads of snacks, a bottle of water, an energy drink, a portable charger and hair products in case any of the kids need them. i put my hair into french plaits so that it would be wavy for later then grabbed my speaker, loaded up my car, hooked up the aux and made my way to the venue.
the kids were due to arrive at 9, so i had 30mins to prep for their arrival. they were gonna stay here and practice for the majority of the day, bringing a packed lunch with them, then getting picked up again at 3 so they could go home, have a little rest and some dinner then come back for the actual performance. showcase days were a lot of work but i loved them so much, i didn't even really care. before i knew it, the hall was full of my students. i did a quick register, having 45 students here today. the vibes were honestly immaculate, everyone was so excited and the excitement was infectious. we did a warm up, having 'kiss you' by one direction blaring. i loved how close of a relationship all of my students had, even if they didn't see each other very often, i absolutely loved how they could just click and be so comfortable with one another like no time had passed.
"right you lot! we have worked so hard for today, i know all of you look forward to the showcase and so do i, so let's make this the best day ever, yeah!" i said trying to get them all hyped, getting a chorus of 'yeah!' in return. 'there is a lot of work to be done today and my attention cannot be on all 45 of you at once so whilst i'm working with a different group or student i need you guys to be really patient, okay? if that means doing some colouring or playing with something or talking to your friends or even going on your phone can we make sure it's as quiet as possible please? and as always we clap after everyone's done their dances okay?' i said, finally finishing my little speech. 'okay miss lottie!' they all replied, 'let's get to work then!' i shouted, trying to keep the mood high.
time went so unbelievably quickly and before i knew it, the kids were getting picked up again, if anything it was mostly stressful because it highlighted how little time we had before the performance. i went to grab a snack, then remembered i have given my food to a brother and sister who left their lunch at home. i started putting out chairs and preparing things for tonight with hozier playing softly in the background when i heard the door open. i turned around to see harry walking in, a smile took over my face.
'hey! what are you doing here?' i asked him, beginning to walk over. 'i missed you and knew you were gonna be on your own so grabbed us a maccies and am ready to help with whatever lifting you may need me for' he replied and my stomach rumbled so loudly i swear it echoed. 'i've never been more happier to see food, and you of course! now gimme the food' i said whilst harry laughed at me. i pulled him into a kiss then grabbed the bag and sat cross legged on the floor. we ate our food then harry continued with the chairs whilst i set up the big posters with the logo of my dance studio in the entrance and on the stage. i then quickly got ready, i wore a black suit with some black heels, took my plaits out and did my make up quickly. next thing i knew the kids and parent chaperones were back and harry was still setting out the chairs and prepping the refreshments for the interval, i couldn't care though, he was my boyfriend and they were gonna be seeing a lot more of him.
we ran through each dance one last time before the chaperones took the kids backstage and i began to welcome the other parents and people coming to watch the show. i was talking to one of the teen's mums when i saw rosie and her boyfriend matt with talia and simon, freya and josh and faith and ethan. i let out a little squeal and ran towards the girls all of us having a group hug. 'we're so proud of you lots' faith said, 'stop it! thank you all so much for coming' i said looking around at all of them, my eyes landing on harry, then rosie and matt, 'sage's solo looks absolutely amazing, i'm beyond proud, i can't even imagine how proud you guys are gonna be!' i said to them. we all went in when the show was about to start, i gave harry a quick kiss then made my way up to the stage.
'thank you all so so much for coming tonight!' i spoke into the microphone, my palms sweaty a little. 'i'm lottie and i'm the owner of blue dance! all of the kids here have worked incredibly hard to put on an amazing show for you all tonight and it truly is amazing. so please put your hands together for our first act, sage lewis, aged 4, doing a solo to 'better when i'm dancing'. the audience erupted in applause and i winked at harry before walking off stage, i gave sage a quick hug before she walked in and stood in the wings watching her, she did brilliantly, the whole night went brilliantly. and i couldn't be prouder of any of them.
