We had just finished breakfast when Adhwit casually leaned back in his chair, sipping his coffee with a mischievous smile.
“You know, mi pequeña traviesa,” he began, placing his mug down, “I think you should come with me to the office today.”
I raised an eyebrow, wiping my hands. “Why? You’re the CEO. Don’t you have a mountain of work to do?”
“I do,” he admitted, “but I’m the one who makes the rules. And today, I’m making a new one: you’re officially my productivity booster.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re impossible, mi amor precioso.”
He smirked, standing up. “Come on, troublemaker. I’m taking you along—end of discussion.”
He excused himself to take a quick shower, leaving me to get ready. By the time we left, I was in a pastel saree, and he was in his perfectly tailored navy suit.
When we arrived at the office, his staff greeted us warmly, but I couldn’t help noticing their curious glances. It wasn’t every day that the CEO walked in with his wife.
“Why do I feel like I’m under a spotlight?” I whispered.
“Because you are,” he replied with a grin. “The spotlight of my life.”
“Cheesy,” I muttered, shaking my head but unable to hide my smile.
We made our way to his spacious cabin, where he pulled me onto the couch. “Alright, mi pequeña traviesa, now the real fun begins,” he said, leaning back.
“Fun?” I asked skeptically.
He shrugged. “Of course. Who needs meetings when I have you?”
We ended up laughing and chatting about the most random things. At one point, he tried imitating his assistant’s overly formal voice, which sent me into fits of laughter.
“I can’t believe you’re the CEO,” I said, gasping for air.
“I can’t believe you’re married to me,” he teased back, making me throw a cushion at him.
Before long, we were both lying on the floor, holding our stomachs from laughing so hard.
The door suddenly opened, and Aishwarya Oberoi walked in, dressed in her usual sophisticated attire.
“You two are having way too much fun for a Monday morning,” she said, raising an eyebrow as she looked at us sprawled on the floor.
“Oh, come on, Aishu,” Adhwit said, sitting up. “Jealousy doesn’t suit you.”
She rolled her eyes, walking over to join us. “I don’t know how the board puts up with you,” she muttered, but there was a hint of a smile on her lips.
The door knocked again, and a middle-aged man entered. “Ah, perfect timing!” Aishwarya said, introducing him. “This is Mr. Kapoor, our newly appointed Head of Department for Finance.”
Mr. Kapoor greeted us, but then his gaze shifted to Aishwarya. “Mrs. Oberoi, it’s an honor to meet you,” he said, bowing slightly.
