A D H W I T
I was standing in front of my wife's hospital, waiting for her, ignoring everyone else nonchalantly. Just then I saw her waving a hand towards me and hugging me lightly. One thing I realised was, she couldn't be the one as before her accident. But I promise to make her as same as before.
We sat in the car and just then my phone rang. It was Dhruv. "Haa Dhruv?" I asked. "Where are you?" he asked "Dropping my wife home!" "Jaldi aa. I'm waiting for you." I need to show you something.
I reached home and realised, he was being so restless. "Hello!" nakshatra waved at him and he greeted her by hugging her. I glared hard at him. Noticing my glare, he left her. "Chill bro, she's my bhabhi!" "And she should be 'only' your bhabhi. " i said.
Anyways, I have something for you! He said handling me a bundle of papers. "I opened Rhea's file again and they were investigating her godown, which was untouched for 7 years, and there we found this! A letter!" I made Nakshatra sit beside me and I opened the letter.
"Adhwit,
If this message has reached you, it signifies that I am no longer in this world. I must emphasize, with great urgency, that you must not burden yourself with any feelings of culpability for my passing. It was neither the result of an accident nor circumstance, but rather a deliberate and carefully considered decision on my part.
Please don't be guilty that you couldn't save our child because the child was never yours.
Growing up, my parents' busy schedules often took them away from home, with my uncle serving as my guardian. When I was 12, I reached a pivotal milestone - my first menstrual cycle. Naively seeking guidance, I shared this intimate experience with my uncle, viewing him as a cool and approachable mentor.
Betraying the trust placed in him, my uncle exploited his position to subject me to unimaginable harm. His sinister actions were perpetuated by a manipulative warning that rendered me voiceless. Thus began an agonizing chapter of repeated violations, as I struggled to escape the nightmarish reality imposed by this malevolent presence masquerading as family.
Upon reaching the age of 23, I mustered the courage to divulge the long-concealed truth about the sexual abuse to my parents. However, their reaction was not what I had anticipated. Instead of empathy and support, they met my revelation with skepticism and hostility, dismissing my claims as fabrications against a trusted family member. The situation escalated further when I presented pregnancy test results, only to be met with defamatory accusations by my uncle, who maliciously suggested that the child was conceived through promiscuous relations with classmates.
Following this traumatic encounter, I sought refuge in your home, yet hesitated to share the full extent of my suffering. Overwhelmed by the haunting memories and desperate to sever ties with the past, I made the anguished decision to terminate the pregnancy, unable to bear the thought of carrying a constant reminder of the abuse. However, when you stumbled upon my pregnancy reports, I panicked and concocted a false narrative, attributing the conception to a drunken indiscretion between us.
The cumulative weight of guilt, shame, and unresolved trauma eventually became unbearable, driving me to contemplate the most drastic of escapes: surrendering to the darkness that had enveloped my existence.
Adhwit, we never promised to spend eternity together or navigate every life twist as a duo. Our vow was to cherish happiness, savor life's joys, and find strength to move forward if fate separated us. I made that promise knowing deep down that my actions weren't aligned with my heart.
Forgive me, Adhwit, so you can release the burden of our past. Move on, find love again. You're young, vibrant, and deserving of happiness. Don't let my memory hold you back. You'll find someone who loves and appreciates you for who you are.
I'm sorry for the pain I've caused. May you find peace, love, and fulfillment."
-Rhea!
"My... My Rhea. I didn't kil..killed her. I.. I didn't!" I said hugging her. My happiness was on cloud 9. She hugged me back. Her eyes were teary!
