Poor Lilly
It was lunch time when I finally got to the hospital. We pulled up at the side entrance. Her mum turned round it was Miss Williams! Maxi was my counsellor’s daughter. I was shocked, we both were. We said nothing, I guess we both thought that was the best.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Maxi asked inquisitively.
"No!" I snapped, she looked a bit stunned but I felt tricked, violated, how could I not have been told that Mrs Williams was her mum?!
I was with Lilly until noon the next day. I didn't leave her side, I love her. Maggie went home to freshen up where Maxi was apparently waiting for me. I didn’t know the details; why she was there, what she wanted. All I knew was that was there.
I took a month off to help Lilly out of the hospital, she was in there for three weeks. She broke her leg when she fell. Maggie tried to help her use her crutches, but she couldn't support her, so I helped Lilly with that as well. The whole time I'd only got one phone call and that was George. He said he had to tell me something about Maxi. I didn't listen.
I went back to school two weeks before the Christmas break. The first week I was back, Maxi wasn't in. I thought nothing of it, but when she wasn't in the following Monday I asked George if he knew what was going on. You could tell he did, but he only said "She's been off for a while and you need to ring her."
I didn’t know how love felt, but I missed her a lot. Was that love? I called her that night, I couldn’t resist. She didn't pick up, but I was persistent. I kept going all night but still no answer. I went to bed worried, maybe she had what Lilly had and was in hospital, maybe she was DEAD! I hoped not, I was pretty sure I was in love with her or close to it. Can you fall in love that fast? Was I thinking through my heart or some other part of my anatomy? Either way, I’d only known her for a few months, but she was already special to me.
When I woke up I could only think of her. I sat up, grabbed my phone and rang. The dialling tone was never ending, then after what like an eternity, she picked up.
"Hello?" She sounded sleepy.
"Hi, I haven't seen you in ages, since, well you know.” I chuckled. “So what's going on?" I waited for an answer and then I heard a gagging and then a massive 'splat'. "Hello? Are you all right Maxi?" I heard her scramble for the phone
"Hello, are you still there?" she asked curiously.
"Yep!" I said.
"Oh, you are." she sounded disappointed.
"So why aren't you at school anymore?"
"Well, to tell you the truth; I've been a bit nauseous"
"Well are you ok? That's how it started with Lilly"
"I'm sure I don't have what Lilly had" she sounded definite.
"Hah, so what you're pregnant?" I joked.
"Well..." I stopped her abruptly.
"Got to get ready for school now. Bye!" I was about to end the call.
"Slick! I love you, remember that." I got ready for school with her words still ringing in my head. ‘Love you!’ If she loved me, was it so crazy if I loved her?
I spoke to George about my conversation with Maxi. He was pleased I’d finally talked to her. I was a tad upset he was enjoying her being ill, I couldn't understand. But then he stopped me in the middle of a sentence.
“Wait.” He had a puzzled look on his face. "So you don't actually know?"
"Know what?" I asked. The bell went. Again I asked "Know what?!" He didn't answer and he went to his last lesson.
I think this is going to turn out really short on wattpad- but the next chapter should be good =)
