Kanika sat by the window, staring out at the gray sky, She was feeling lonely, but not because she lacked friends. It was because Nirvaan had started to ignore her, and it was something she couldn't stand. She had tried countless times to reach out to him, but he either avoided her or gave her one-word replies, which only hurt her more.
Everyone had tried to talk to Nirvaan, but he had pushed them all away. He didn't speak to anyone- not even his closest friends. Kanika felt a deep sadness, not just because he wasn't talking to her, but because of what it might mean. The thought that he was keeping everything bottled up, refusing to share his struggles with anyone, made her heart ache. She feared he might be slipping into depression, or worse, that he could hurt himself. The weight of those thoughts was slowly eating away at her, and it was becoming unbearable.
For the first time, Kanika considered reaching out to Nirvaan's sister. She wondered if she might have some insight into what was really going on with him. Maybe he was opening up to her, or perhaps she knew something Kanika didn't. She needed to understand what he was going through, to know if his behavior at home matched the distance he was putting between himself and everyone else. It was the only way she could make sense of the silence and fear that had been weighing so heavily on her heart.
One day, Nirvaan didn't come to school. During recess, Kanika couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. She needed to know what was going on. Without thinking twice, she headed straight to Shivani's classroom. Kanika knew everything about Nirvaan, including his sister's schedule, so she was sure Shivani would be there.
Standing at the door, Kanika took a deep breath and called out, "Shivani, can you come outside for a minute?"
Shivani, who knew exactly who Kanika was and what she meant to Nirvaan, didn't try to hide her dislike. She hated her brother's girlfriend, but something stopped her from ignoring her. She didn't want to deal with Kanika, but her curiosity got the best of her. With a sigh, she stepped outside, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh, so you're here," she said, voice dripping with sarcasm. "What do you want from me now? Isn't it enough that you've taken my brother away from me? Now you're here to bribe me, too?"
Kanika felt the sting of Shivani's words, but she stayed focused. She needed answers, and nothing was going to stop her.
Kanika took a deep breath, trying to keep her nerves in check. She looked at Shivani and asked, "How are you, Shivani? How's your studies going? I hope everything's okay."
Shivani raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a sarcastic smile. "Ohhh, so now you're trying to be a good sister-in-law?" she shot back, her tone dripping with mock sweetness. "I was fine... but after seeing you, I'm not so sure anymore."
Kanika felt a surge of anger rise inside her. She could easily snap back at anyone who dared to insult her-her temper was quick and fierce. But this time, she held herself back. She couldn't let her emotions take over, not when it came to Nirvaan's family. Shivani might have been rude, but she was still Nirvaan's sister, and Kanika had already accepted them as part of her life. She couldn't afford to let her anger show, not if she wanted to maintain any chance of understanding what was really going on with Nirvaan.
( Like its a saying kii --Agar aap kisi se sacche dil se pyaar krte ho, to aap uss se related har insaan, har chiz se bhii utna hi pyaar krte ho.
When you truly love someone with all your heart, you end up loving every person and everything related to them just as much.)
Kanika was just like that. She knew Nirvaan loved his family more than anything else, and because of that, she loved them too. In her heart, she had already accepted his family as her own.
