{Brooke's pov}

"I love you," I whispered in her ear, tears streaming down our faces. I held her as tight as I could. A man in a suit stepped in the room, I nodded, slowly letting go of her. I held onto her hand for as long as possible. Then I walked out of the room balling. We might have only know each other for 6 months, but she was a sister to me. And it hurt like hell to let her go.

"I'm going out," I mumbled grabbing my skate board.

"Okay, be home by 7:30" I heard mum (Liz)holler. I just walked out the door, I went to the 'garage' I rolled my skate board under, then crawled under the door.

"Brookey boo! Your back! Where's Emily?" Evan hollered sitting in his normal spot.

"Gone," I say grabbing a beer from the fridge.

"What?" Everyone gasped.

"Her uncle and aunt went to jail. She's in the foster kid program now. Don't expect to see her," I said, I threw the beer bottle at the wall, shattering it.

"Brooke calm down," Evan said calmly standing up, his hands in the air.

"NO! I'm fucking sick and tired of everyone FUCKING PACKING THEIR BAGS AND LEAVING ME!!" I yelled, I felt warm tears streaming down my face.

"Brooke. Just calm down, I'm right here," I heard Ryland say from behind me. "Breath Brooke, everything is going to be okay," he said wrapping me in a hug from behind. I took a few shaky deep breaths. "Come on, let's get you home," He said, I shook my head.

"No, I can't let them see me like this," I said wiping away the tears, sniffling. I couldn't let the boys or Liz see me fall apart like this, they would worry too much.

"Then come on ride with me," he said, I nodded. We exited the garage, we skated down the streets of town. Hoods up. Music on. After a while he stopped, I did too. He picked up his skate board with out saying a word, I followed his lead. We walked through the woods for a while, then we came to a lake. The sun was setting it looked so peaceful.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked confused.

"Because, you needed a get away. Here it is," he said opening his arms to the lake.

"Seriously. Tell me," I said sitting on the grass, propping my self up with my hands. He sighed and sat next to me.

"Lakes are a metaphor, on the surface, they can be calm, peaceful, and beautiful. But underneath fish are eating other fish, plants pulled from their roots, shit like that." He shrugged. "You don't have to be a lake Brooke, you have to show someone something." He said looking at me. I got up.

"Fuck you," I spat at him grabbing my skateboard and running out of the woods. I skateboarded home. I opened the door, practically slamming it behind me. I headed straight up stairs.

"Hey! Where do you think you are going?!" I heard Liz say sternly.

"To my room," I said spinning on my heels to face her.

"Yeah I don't think so, I told you to be home at 7:30 young lady, it's 9. Where were you?" She asked using her 'you're in trouble' voice.

"I was just skating around okay? I lost track of time." I said running up the rest of the stairs. I heard people talking down stairs.

"Hey have you noticed anything different about Brooke lately?" Mum asked.

"No why? Did something happen?" It was Luke.

"Yeah, she got home really late and she was just acting weird," she said, obviously trying to be quiet.

"That's weird, I'll go talk to her." I heard Luke say before bounding up with stairs. I heard a knock on my door I didn't answer. Luke went ahead and opened the door. I had my face buried in a pillow but I heard it open.
