Chapter 38:- The Waits End Tonight ✨

The day began with an unusual sense of excitement in the air, as Aman prepared for his long-awaited trip to Hyderabad. It had been three days since Muskan had left for her family's home, and every day without her had felt incomplete. The space around him felt empty, and even though they had stayed connected through video calls, the physical distance was unbearable. His heart longed to feel her presence, to hold her in his arms again, something that the video calls could never replace.

Aman had completed all the work that he had initially expected to take six days. His determination to be with Muskan as soon as possible had driven him to finish the tasks in just three days. However, he kept his plans a secret from Muskan. Only Murshid, knew of his intentions. Aman didn't want to tell her, he wanted to surprise her by showing up in Hyderabad when she least expected it.

It was a typical busy day at the office when the call came in. Muskan's name flashed on his phone screen, and Aman's heart skipped a beat. He quickly excused himself from the ongoing client meeting, his mind already half with Muskan.

"Jaan, I'm in a meeting now, I will call you in a while," he said, cutting the call before hearing her response. He hoped Muskan would understand, but deep down, he felt the weight of missing her more than ever.

Meanwhile, Muskan had been feeling uneasy. For the last two days, she had been battling bouts of nausea and vomiting, though she hadn't mentioned it to anyone, not even Aman. She didn't want to worry him, knowing how protective he could be. She didn't want to distract him from his work either.

As the day went on, Muskan found herself unable to shake the feeling of loneliness and longing. She missed Aman terribly, and despite her efforts to stay strong, her emotions got the better of her. She couldn't stop the tears from falling as she reached for her phone and dialed Aman's number, desperate to hear his voice.

She dialed Aman's number only to hear "Jaan, I'm in a meeting now, I will call you in a while". And the call got disconnected.

She again dialled his number, stared at the screen, waiting for Aman's response. Her heart raced with anticipation, hoping to hear his soothing voice on the other end. But instead, all she heard was the call disconnecting abruptly. She felt a pang of disappointment surge through her chest. She tried to push it aside, telling herself it was just a small interruption, but the loneliness settled deeper into her heart.

She dialed his number again, but this time, there was no answer. She tried once more, then again, until it reached the fifth attempt. That was when the phone rang, and she held her breath, eager for him to pick up.

"I'M FUCKING IN A IMPORTANT MEETING, CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?" Aman's voice came through, sharp and filled with frustration. His words hit Muskan like a jolt, and she froze, the phone still pressed against her ear. He was angry. The tone, the harshness-it broke her.

She had never imagined that a simple call could make her feel so small. Her heart sank as the reality of the situation settled in. Tears sprang to her eyes, and without saying a word, she looked at the black screen of her phone. The pain of his words echoed in her ears, making the ache in her chest worse. She could feel her body tremble, her emotions spiraling out of control.

The confusion, the hurt-it all became too much to bear. She knew he was busy, but she didn't expect him to lash out like this. Her emotions were already fragile, and his anger made everything feel worse. Muskan's sobs filled the silence around her, each one a reminder of how much she missed him, how much she needed him.

A few moments later, Muskan's phone rang again, the familiar name flashing on the screen. Aman's name. But this time, Muskan couldn't bring herself to pick up. The pain in his voice still lingered in her mind, and she didn't feel ready to face him. With shaky hands, she swiped the call away, tears blurring her vision.
