*You tapped your fingers against your phone, the bright screen illuminating your smirk as you read Dominik's latest text*

Mi Rey👑: I miss you already... can't believe we have to wait until tomorrow at the arena to see each other.

*You could practically hear the disappointment in his voice just through the text, and it made your secret plan all the more exciting. Dominik thought you wouldn't be in San Diego until the early hours of New Year's Day—when, in reality, you and your family were already en route*

Taylor: Still can't believe you're pulling this off

*Taylor leaned over the armrest in their first-class seats to look at you. Zach, let out a small laugh from across the aisle*

Zach: Yeah, and you always say I'm the sneaky one

You: What can I say? I want to start the new year off right. With Dom

*You smile, turning your phone off and put it in your lap, but never took your hand off of it as your mother turns to look at you*

Alice: You better have someone recording his reaction. I want to see the look on his face when he realizes you lied to him

Robert: Lied is a strong word. Let's call it...creative timing

*The flight from Orlando to San Diego wasn't long, but your excitement made it feel endless. You fidgeted in her seat, staring out the window as city lights sparkled below. The plan was simple, check into the hotel, get settled, and then surprise Dominik at his family's house just before midnight. When they finally landed at San Diego International Airport, your heart pounded with anticipation. The cool California air greeted you five as you all stepped outside, and you and Taylor pulled your hoodie over your heads to stay from any fans*

Taylor: You ready?

You: Oh, I've never been more ready

*The surprise was in motion. And Dominik? He had no idea what was coming*

At the hotel

*Your heart pounded as you and your family settled into the hotel in San Diego. The plan was set, you was about to pull off one of the best surprises of your life. Taylor flopped onto one of the beds, scrolling through her phone*

Taylor: You sure he's still at home and not out somewhere?

You: It's New Year's Eve. He's probably at home with his family

Zach: You better hope so. Imagine if we show up and he's not even there

Alice: Quit teasing your sister. She's nervous enough

*You weren't nervous. You were excited. You pulled out your phone and texted Dominik again, just to sell the lie a little more*

Mi Reina👑: Wish I was there already...at least we don't have to wait too long. Few more hours and I'll be on a plane.

Mi Rey👑: I know, baby. I can't wait. It sucks not having you here right now.

You:..Alright, let's go

*The family piled into their rental car, and Robert drove toward Dominik's parents' house. The streets were alive with New Year's celebrations, people setting off fireworks early, music playing, laughter echoing through the neighborhoods. But you only cared about one thing: seeing Dominik. As you pulled up to the house, you took a deep breath, looking at the familiar home you'd been to quite a few times. You pulled out your phone and texted Dominik one last time*

Mi Reina👑: I'll text you when I land. Try to get some sleep, okay?

*As you got out of the car, Taylor was alreayd filming as you walked to the front door. You knocked and after a few seconds passed, he door swung open, and there he was—Dominik, standing in sweats and a hoodie, his face shifting from confusion to shock to pure disbelief*
