“Okay, listen up guys,” Ms. Flores said while we were finishing copying what was on the chalkboard. Can you believe it? Four days from exams, three days from the play, and she was dishing out new lessons. And the play for her subject was already the reason why practically half of the class didn't have enough time to review. “I've got some good news,” she smiled, her hands clasped.
“She's gonna postpone the play,” I heard Nai quietly say.
“I've invited a couple of other teachers to watch your play on Thursday,” Ms. Flores said, excitedly.
“How is that, in the least bit, good news?” Nai complained. I knew she was already stressed out with the play coming up and then exams right after that.
“And the guests will have a say on the grade I'll be giving,” our teacher continued.
“Will Ms. Tiu be there?” Gwenevere asked, her hand was raised but she didn't really wait for Ms. Flores to call her name.
“Yes! She will be there,” Ms. Flores answered, her voice wrapped in enthusiasm. Our teacher seemed to think that the whole class shared her enthusiastic attitude. But my classmates weren't very subtle about how they really felt.
“Will Mr. Santos be there?” Sunny asked. Ms. Flores simply nodded. But that was enough to cheer up most of us. Mr. Santos will probably give us a good grade. Not that he was a lazy teacher who passed all his students no matter what, just that he had consideration for his students.
Around lunchtime, Sunny sent me a text message.
Convinced Gwen to cancel today and tomorrow's rehearsals. (:
Before I shared the actual good news to my best friend, who was currently devouring a chicken sandwich, I replied to Sunny.
Thank you! Finally some real good news. Haha. (:
After I pressed the send button, I placed my phone down on the table and took a bite of my tuna sandwich. “Sunny just texted. He said today and tomorrow's rehearsals are cancelled,” I said casually.
“Finally, some real good news,” Nai smiled. I smiled back, realizing how much we thought alike. Then my phone beeped. I picked it up and saw that Sunny sent me another text.
Do you want to maybe review for exams with me today after school? (:
I smiled at how, even through text messages, his kind of shy personality shows. I find it cute because, in most of the other circumstances I see him in, he's a confident person. So, it's nice to know that he gets shy sometimes, too. And it's even nicer to know that he gets shy sometimes with me.
“So, I'm guessing this text isn't about the play,” Nai teased me as she drank her bottled water.
“No, it isn't,” I rolled my eyes. “It is, however, about exams.”
