From the moment I woke up to the moment I stepped out of the car, I read my reviewer every chance I got. My mom got so irritated because she kept catching me reading while eating breakfast and while we were in the car.

“Good luck on the quiz bee, honey. I know you’ll do great,” she said as she pulled over.

“Thanks, mom,” I kissed her cheek. “Love you.”

I kept reading my reviewer even when I was walking in the hallways. There weren’t a lot of people yet. Figures. There aren’t any classes today because the whole morning will be spent holding the contests. Then in the afternoon, there will be a program and an awarding ceremony in the auditorium. Most students who aren’t joining the contests show up in the afternoon, some students don’t show up at all. However, there are still students who like to watch the contests.

A quick look at my phone and I saw that it was only 7:15am. The quiz bee starts at 10:30am. I had a lot of time left to review. The first contests will be the essay-writing and poster-making, both at 8:00am. I don’t know where, though. Sunny’s contest, the message relay, will be held in the gym at 9:30am. I hope he does well.

I headed to our classroom, thinking no one else would be there and it would be a perfect place to study. However, after opening the door, I saw that someone was already there.

“Had a feeling you’d be here early,” he gave me a smile.

“Hey Sunny,” I took the seat beside him. “How was rehearsal?”

“Well, I think it went pretty well. How was the search?” he turned his chair to face me.

“It went great,” for a while I debated whether or not to tell him that Cairo helped me find a rental shop. “Cairo helped me find a rental shop,” it was better for him to hear it from me. Even though it was only Cairo and I who went to Caitlin’s Closet, someone might have seen us leave the school together, hand in hand.

“He did?” he was, as I expected, surprised. “That was… nice of him,” somehow, with the look on his face when he said that, it was like he was saying ‘that was clever of him.’

“The shop is called Caitlin’s Closet, it’s on Castro Street. I found every single costume we need there. And the owner was nice enough to give us a discount. All we need to do now is the fitting,” I tried to focus the conversation on the costumes.

“You had fun yesterday?” he asked with a smile on his lips. I felt like the question he asked was ‘you had fun with Cairo yesterday?’ and I started to feel bad, or confused, or whatever. It’s just that, I did have fun with Cairo. But now I’m talking to Sunny. And, for some reason, I feel bad that I didn’t think of him once when I was with Cai.

“I did,” I answered truthfully. He just nodded. “So, um… You were… waiting for me?” I remembered him saying he thought I would come here.

“Yes, I was,” he said and then took his bag and unzipped it. He pulled out a box and handed it to me.

“F-for me?” I hesitantly took it. I mentally facepalmed myself for asking that question. Obviously, it was for me. The words just, kind of, slipped out ‘cause I didn’t expect him to wait for me here to give me something.

“Take a look,” he said.

I opened the box, not knowing what to expect. As I slowly took the lid off, a sunflower bracelet met my eyes. It was so… cute!

“Wow…” I couldn’t take my eyes off the cute thing.

“Do you like it?” he asked, his voice filled with excitement.
