That's what made Aurora's heart skip a beat everytime she saw him, the way her eyes would follow him everywhere and worry about his well being. She wanted not to be away from him and desired missions along him so his presence would be near her, it eased her mind and soul - but he wasn't sharing the same feelings as she did.
Armin always saw Aurora just as a war weapon who's been given orders by him which she hardly obeyed unless Levi would tell her to take them; even if Aurora needed those missions with Armin, she would always refuse them because it burned her soul.
He always talked about Annie, went to see Annie and cared for the same things as Annie - hell, he even had a whole change in aspect for Annie when he heard someone talk about how she would love bowl-cuts or chopped hairstyles on men.
However, Aurora's hopeless tries of making the first move failed and made it even harder for her to see Armin. The kisses they shared meant nothing for him, or they could've meant practice for when Annie melted away from her crystal. It was horrific.

A settling sun razed on the small church to the east of Orvud District. Above ground,inside the building, it looked like any other church. However below the altar, hidden by a rug, was a stairway that led to a large underground cavern.The cavern was created by hardened crystal walls that produced their own natural illumination, exact ones as Annie's crystallisation.
Inside that cavern, Grisha was stood before the Reiss family- all dressed in a similar type of white clothing. "I'm an Eldian from outside the wall! Just like you... I'm a subject of Ymir! King of the wall! Please kill the titans who are coming to destroy the wall! Before my wife and children... and all other people of the wall get eaten!" His screams echoed throughout all the cavern, his voice filled with fear, worry, despair, loss of hope and regrets that didn't go unspoken.
