Stake Out Fiasco

A/N Hey yall I tried a new way to write the dialog for this chapter after looking back realizing that yes all the paragraphs were a little convoluted and messy, hopefully this helps. Anyway enjoy

(3rd Person POV)

After Midoriya arrives at the rundown bar that the detective told him about, he proceeds to do the knocking sequence she said over the phone. The door opened and he was met with the face of an officer, the officer looked Midoriya up and down before letting him in.

"Thanks for coming, Deku. We're nearly ready to get started. Detective Quin is in the other room checking to see if all the cameras are ready." The officer said while pointing to said room. Midoriya nodded and thanked the officer, and then he started taking in his surroundings. There were at least seven other officers present, all of them were putting on their vests and three of them were looking over their gear.

As Midoriya walked to the opposite room some of the officers looked at him and nodded, Midoriya nodded back. When he entered the other room he saw five more people including Detective Quin, who was attaching a wire to a man, and it was a man that Midoriya recognized from FEAST.

"Oh hey Deku, I know you said not to get involved, but when this lady said you'd be a part of this I thought I'd be pretty safe." The man said nervously. Detective Quin raised an eyebrow at the man's familiarity to the teen superhero.

"You're familiar with this man Deku?" Detective Quin asked while continuing to secure the wire to the man's clothes. Midoriya ran a hand through his hair but responded to the question.

"Yes, I know him, he's one of the regulars that go to FEAST, it was actually him talking to a friend that led me to the pier." Detective Quin hummed in understanding, and nodded to the man that she was done, she turned back to Midoriya and spoke.

"I understand that you are against endangering this man, and with your familiarity to him that creates a conflict of interest. So I am going to ask you this once, can you handle being a part of this stake out, while knowing that someone you know may be put in danger?" Detective Quin said sizing up Midoriya, who held eye contact with her.

"I can, but if someone tries to hurt that man out there tonight, I will save him." Detective Quin narrowed her eyes and turned around.

"Fine, but just remember that this is a police operation and we have final say. So if you wish to go out there and save that man, you will do so when cleared to, understand?" Midoriya let out a grunt of acknowledgement, and went to get some fresh air.

Sitting on the roof Midoriya was scolded internally by Nana. While she understood that he was angry that an innocent person was being put in harm's way, she did not agree with his reaction toward the detective.

'Izuku what in the world were you doing talking back to an officer like that." Nana said, appearing in front of him with a disappointed look. Midoriya sighed and massaged his temples. 'I got angry, it's like when I first encountered Eri and I couldn't save her, Sir Nighteye telling me we need more evidence, and that we couldn't go in and save her.' Midoriya said internally, sounding stressed. All Midoriya could think about at that moment was that he was being forced to the sidelines again, when he could help save someone before they were endangered.

'Remember what I said brat. You want to save that guy, then do it.' The second said, sounding exasperated. Inside Midoriya's head he could hear all the users argue about the topic, eventually he let it fade away to silence to focus on the now. Midoriya simply sat on the roof for a long while, until he heard the access door open and shut behind him.
