Valentine's Day in the city was always hectic—restaurants packed, flower shops swarmed, and overpriced gifts flying off the shelves. But for Von and Leah, the night wasn't about flashy displays or Instagram-worthy moments. It was about them.
Von wasn't the most traditional romantic, but he knew one thing: Leah deserved the world. And tonight, he was going to make sure she felt that.
The apartment smelled of vanilla and roses when Leah walked in, her heels clicking against the hardwood floor. Candles flickered, casting a golden glow around the room, and soft R&B played in the background. Her eyes widened as she took it all in—the bouquet of deep red roses sitting on the table, a box wrapped neatly beside them, and Von, sitting on the couch with that signature smirk, waiting for her.
"You did all this?" she asked, raising a brow.
Von chuckled, standing up and walking over to her, his hands slipping around her waist. "Nah, I hired a whole team," he teased, pressing a slow kiss against her cheek. "Of course, I did this. You my girl, ain't you?"
Leah rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile playing on her lips. "Barely," she joked, making him scoff.
"Aight, keep playin'," he muttered, pulling her closer. "You lucky I love yo' ass."
She grinned, pressing a kiss to his lips before letting him lead her to the couch.
As she sat down, Von handed her the neatly wrapped gift. "Go 'head, open it."
Leah carefully peeled back the wrapping, revealing a sleek black velvet box. Her heart thumped as she lifted the lid, revealing a custom diamond necklace with her name spelled out in cursive. The stones caught the candlelight, shimmering brilliantly.
"Von..." she breathed, fingers grazing over the diamonds. "This is—"
"Just somethin' light," he cut in, shrugging. "Ain't nothin' compared to what you do for me."
Leah looked up at him, her eyes softening. "You know you don't have to buy me stuff to prove that."
"I know," he said, brushing a curl behind her ear. "But I want to."
She bit her lip, touched beyond words, before setting the box down and wrapping her arms around his neck. "Thank you, baby," she whispered against his lips.
Von smirked. "Don't thank me yet."
Before she could ask what he meant, he grabbed her hand, leading her to the bedroom where a private dinner was set up—a table for two, champagne already poured, and her favorite dishes waiting.
Leah blinked, stunned. "You really did all this?"
Von kissed the back of her hand. "You hold me down, baby. Least I can do is remind you how much I appreciate you."
She smiled, squeezing his hand. "Happy Valentine's Day, Von."
He pulled her into his arms, his lips brushing against her ear. "Happy Valentine's Day, ma."
Just as they sat down to eat, Von reached into his pocket, fingers grazing over the small velvet box he had been holding onto for weeks. His heart pounded, but he kept his cool. The moment had to be perfect.
As Leah lifted her glass to take a sip of champagne, Von suddenly stood up.
She looked at him, confused. "What you doin'?"
Von exhaled, locking eyes with her. "I been thinkin' about this for a long time, Leah."
He pulled the box out, flipping it open to reveal a diamond ring that shimmered under the candlelight. Leah's breath hitched, her hand flying to her mouth as tears welled in her eyes.
Von dropped to one knee, holding the ring up with that signature smirk, but there was a seriousness in his eyes she had never seen before.
"You been my ride or die, my peace, my whole heart. And I can't see my life without you." He licked his lips, eyes never leaving hers. "So what you say, baby? You gon' be my wife?"
Leah let out a shaky laugh, her hands trembling as she nodded furiously. "Yes. Yes, Von!"
He grinned, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into his arms. Their lips met in a slow, passionate kiss, sealing the moment forever.
As the night went on, the city kept moving, life kept happening—but in their world, in that moment, it was just them.
And now, it would be forever.
