Weird Count ~918
Jayde didn't argue anymore. She didn't yell, didn't throw her phone, didn't even let her emotions show.
She just moved differently.
When she saw the video of Von in the club, laughing it up with some girl way too close to his ear, she didn't blow up his phone. She didn't even text him. Instead, she got dressed—full face, hair laid, body snatched—and walked out the door without a word.
Let him wonder. Let him feel the unease she had felt every time she saw something that made her question if she was the only one.
Now, she was out with her girls, sipping on tequila, laughing like she didn't have a care in the world. She had no real destination, just vibes and freedom. And for once, she let herself enjoy it—until fate, or maybe karma, decided to stir the pot.
She spotted him before he spotted her.
Von was posted up outside the lounge, hoodie low, chain glinting under the neon lights. He was surrounded by a few of his guys, but his energy shifted the second he saw her stepping out of the club, phone in hand, lips glossed up, looking like she had no worries.
His jaw tightened.
Jayde felt his eyes burning into her, but she kept her cool, acting oblivious. If he wanted to play games, she could play better.
She barely took two steps before he was in front of her, blocking her path.
"Where the fuck you been at?" His voice was low, his tone tight.
Jayde blinked up at him innocently. "Huh?"
Von scoffed, licking his lips. "Don't do that shit."
"Do what?"
He tilted his head. "You know what the fuck you doin'."
Jayde frowned slightly, glancing over at her girls, who were now pretending not to be paying attention. She let out a light laugh. "Von, why are you acting weird?"
He let out a dry laugh, looking her up and down. "That's what we doin' now? I been callin' you, texting you, but you out here actin' brand new?"
She shrugged. "I've been busy."
"With what?" His eyes darkened. "Or who?"
Jayde smirked, tilting her head. "You tell me."
His jaw clenched. "Man, stop playin' with me, Jayde."
She sighed dramatically. "Von, I don't know what you're so pressed about. I went out, had a good time. What's the issue?"
Von let out a humorless laugh, running a hand over his face. "You tryna gaslight me? After you was the one mad? You walked out like I ain't even exist, now you actin' confused?"
Jayde placed a hand on her hip, feigning deep thought. "Hmm... Oh! You mean that video? The one with you and that bitch? Von, I wasn't mad." She smiled sweetly. "I just figured you were... networking."
His nostrils flared. "Networking?"
"Yeah." She bit her lip, eyes dancing with mischief. "You always say the internet makes things look worse than they are, right?"
Von's fists balled at his sides. "Yo, Jayde, you really tryna act like you ain't just ghost me for three days?"
She tilted her head, pretending to think. "Three days? Oh, wow. Time flies when you're having fun."
That did it.
Von grabbed her wrist—firm, but not enough to hurt. "Let's go."
Jayde snatched her wrist away with a sharp tug, clearing her throat as she smoothed out her dress like Von hadn't just tried to manhandle her in the middle of the sidewalk.
"Excuse me?" she said, arching a perfectly sculpted brow. "Who the fuck said I was going anywhere with you?"
Von's jaw ticked, his eyes burning holes into hers. "Jayde, stop playin'."
But before she could respond, a familiar arm draped lazily around her shoulder.
"Everything good here, babe?"
Jayde almost laughed at the timing.
Her best friend, Rico, had pulled up with the dramatics on full display. And the best part? He was doing his best impression of the straightest, most possessive boyfriend imaginable.
Von's expression darkened instantly. "Yo, who the fuck—?"
Rico tightened his hold on Jayde, his nails perfectly manicured as he gave Von a once-over like he wasn't impressed. Then, just to add fuel to the fire, he slid his hand down, gripping her ass firmly where Von could see it.
"Damn, bro. You good? 'Cause you look a little... stressed."
Jayde bit her lip, barely suppressing her smirk. Oh, this was about to be fun.
Von's nostrils flared as he looked between them. "Yo, get your fuckin' hands off my girl."
Rico gasped dramatically. "Your girl? Funny, 'cause I don't see no leash."
Von took a threatening step forward. "Jayde, who the hell is this?"
She tilted her head innocently. "Von, why are you acting like this? You're the one who said I always be trippin' over nothing, right? So why you trippin' now?"
Von's eye twitched. "Jayde—"
Rico leaned in like he was about to whisper some sweet nothing in her ear, but loud enough for Von to hear. "Mmm, babe, I think we should go. The energy here is real... aggressive."
Jayde hummed in agreement. "You're right, baby." She turned back to Von. "It was nice seeing you, though. Enjoy your night."
And just like that, she spun on her heel, letting Rico lead her away, feeling Von's eyes drilling into the back of her skull the entire time.
She knew she had just lit a match.
And soon, Von was going to burn the whole city down trying to prove she was still his.
