Carnival pt. 1

I woke up in the same position I fell asleep in.

And Gabriel was still cuddled against me.

"You couldn't sleep could you?" I say, looking at him, slightly amused.

"Not after how much I slept yesterday. Um... Your phone kept going off last night. Alastair was blowing it up. I only read the first one but I didn't mean to i swear!" He said, the last part really fast, putting is hands protectively above his head as if to block a hit.

"Hey, it's okay, I'm not mad!" I say as comfortingly as I can, pulling him into my chest, tightly.

I kiss him on the cheek and get up to make breakfast, pretending I didn't notice his blush and smile.

"So what do you want to do today? Go out or stay in?" I say across the room to Gabe who's just now walking in.

"Can we go to that Carnival that just opened up across town?" He asked me in a small voice. I loved that voice I just needed him to talk more so I can hear it more.

"Of course. Hey I have a very important question for you."

He looked at my very serious expression with concern in his eyes.

I look him dead in the eyes, and say...

"Do you know the muffin man?"

He smiled, a genuine smile that I've never seen before, one that lights up a room. Then he began to laugh, a genuine laugh that makes the birds wish they could sing a sound as beautiful as the one coming out of his mouth at this very moment.

I put the bacon in the oven and walked over to him, and kissed him.

He was the one who pulled back.

"Sam... What does this make us?"

I looked at him and realized I hadn't even asked him out yet.

Well shit... Better late then never I guess.

"Well, you wanna be my boyfriend?" I said and smiled. I really hope he says yes, because I reallllllly like him, he's so cute and adorable like a puppy and just wait until he acts all badass because he will I know it he can't just keep everything bottled up and then not explode-

"I've only even been in one relationship before, and it ended terribly. But I really really really like you and I want to make this work. So yes I do, just please don't turn this on me..." Gabe says, cutting me from my thoughts.

I miss him and tell him to get ready to go. He nods and turns to walk away. I grab his wrist, which makes him hiss in pain and I quickly let go, rambling apologies before telling him I'd never do anything to hurt him. Not purposely.
When he turns back again I call out his name, afraid of hurting him again, and tell him this last thing.

"And if I ever see anyone trying to hurt you in anyway, I will personally rip their lungs out. I stole that one from my brother."

He smiled and got ready.

At the carnival:

"What do you wanna do first?" I ask. He looked around and pointed at the balloon darts tent, and I payed for him to play (against his will I might add.)

"This is our first official date" I said, putting more emphases than needed on the word 'date' making him blush and look down. "I'm paying." I say with a triumphant grin.

I look beside me at a man who is standing a bit to close for comfort. He winks and hands me a napkin that said "Balthazar" with a winky fave on it, and a phone number beneath it. He walked away, and I searched for a trash can to put it in, but gave up before Gabe came over, claiming he'd lost.

I just smiled, and put my arm around him, pulling him close, and completely forgetting about that one guy.

I found a trash can, and threw the napkin away.

Hey, sorry about yet another short chapter. 10 hours of sleep in one week probably isn't healthy. Well the only reason I updated tonight, was because @Not_so_Different made my day and asked me to! So yay!
