"He's coming here for dinner?" i asked Lujain while i'm chopping banana into tiny pieces. Nilingon ko si Luka na naghihintay sa akin habang naglalaro ng kaniyang puzzle.
"Yeah, don't bother cooking because he's gonna bring food for us,"
"Alright, i hope the food is good," I smiled as i made mashed potatoes seeing how he's eagerly waiting at the table. Nilagyan ko ng kaonting sabaw ng manok iyon at ilang kutsarang malambot na kanin. I added small pieces chicken breast on top.
"He seems busy lately and rarely visits. What happened? You two fought?"
Lujain chuckled watching Luka. "He's been having hectic schedules lately. I guess i'm the only one feeling his frustration having long haul flights for weeks now."
"Dinner time, sweetie," i whispered and press a kiss on top of his head, placing the plate in front of him.
"Thank you, mommy."
"What fruit do you want this time?" I asked my daughter, Lily. "Do you want banana, too?"
She grins, her little hands reaching for the food, ready to dig in.
"Wow, these kids really have the appetite, huh?" Lujain proudly caress my children's cheeks, adoringly.
"They've been running around the whole day at the park so they're really hungry now,"
"Oh, i brought a lot of chocolates for you guys!" Kinuha niya ang kaniyang bag na nasa sala at binuksan iyon. Isa isang nilagay ang dalang snacks sa lamesa.
"Yeyy! I can have everything, mamma?"
"You two will share but don't worry i'll make dadda buy you guys boxes of these, okay?" Sinipat niya ako at nang iinis pa.
"You don't have to spoil them it will make their teeth rot,"
"Which is normal, Brioni," she smirked. "Damn, you're such a strict mom." Napailing siya habang pinapanood akong tinatago sa ref ang dala niyang chocolates.
"Where's munchkin?"
"Oh, you better help and feed her, please. Her food is in the pantry."
Kumilos na si Lujain at hinanap ang alagang pusa. "I can't believe you're doing this for three years now. You got two kids and cat while living alone here in your house,"
"My assistant will be here tomorrow. She's finally done with her studies that's why i talked to my brother about her coming here to assist me with my business."
"Oh, you're in good terms with your brothers now? They know about your kids?"
"I haven't told them about my kids just yet. I think i am not ready for that. I am scared that they might forced me to go back to dubai and be with Nicco,"
"Hmm, that makes sense..."
I noticed munckin sat by the door, tail flicking in anticipation.
"I think Malik's here,"Kumuha ako ng tubig at nilagyan ang tumbler para makainom ang mga bata.
Saktong may kumatok. Nagmadaling binuksan ni Lujain ang pintuan. Malapad na ngisi at may dalang pagkain na pumasok si Malik. Munchkin meowed loudly, na natawa si Lujain watching her rushing to his legs as he set the bag down on the table.
"Hey, my darlings," Malik greeted and kissed my kids on their head, smiling.
"I think i should be jealous,"
"No," Malik immediately answered back. I watch her pouting, glaring at Malik.
"You didn't even hug me when you walk in!"
Tinawanan siya ni Malik at hinalikan din sa ulo. Umirap si Lujain at umupo na. Binuksan ko ang dalang bag at hinain ang mga pagkain sa aming harapan. Umiling nalang sa nasaksihan.
"Hey, Brioni," he greeted me last. Mas lalo lang akong natawa.
"Dadda, you brought chocolates too?"
"Nope, Lu, do you want me to get you chocolates next time?" Napalingon si Malik sa mga bata.
"Hmm, mamma brought a lot," Lily answered.
"Well, dadda will bring more next time."
"Mommy, can i eat one now?" tanong ni Lily.
"If you're done eating your meal, sweetie," i caress her cheeks and sat down to start eating dinner.
"Have you thought about what school you're going to enroll the kids?"
"I already visited La Petite École to check their facilities and i think my kids will enjoy being there."
"Hmm," he nodded. Kumain na rin kami ng dinner at hinayaan na muna ang mga bata na maglaro sa sala.
"They're gonna start next week so i'm really excited to bring them there and see how they're going to interact with other kids," I continued.
"I hope your assistant can really help lessen the load—i mean you really work a lot you barely have time just for yourself,"
"You know i like being with my kids, Lujain, and they need me everyday. They're obsessed with being with their mom," pagmamayabang ko sa kaibigan.
Nagkatinginan ang dalawa sa di ko alam na dahilan. Malik raised his brow still eating his food. Palipat lipat ang mata ko sa dalawa, nagtataka.
"What? You guys want to say something?"
Ang ingay galing sa pinapanood na cartoons ang tanging naririnig, childish song playing in the background. Halatang nagiisip ang dalawa.
"Why? You can tell me anything," mahina akong tumawa at sumubo ulit ng pagkain. I looked at Malik, nagtataka kung bakit ganito inaasta nila.
A smile playing at the corners of Lujain's lips. Nakaabang ako sa sasabihin ng kaibigan.
"What? Spill now,"
Malapad ang kaniyang ngiti when she slowly lifted her hand, kumikinang ang diamond ring sa kaniyang kamay. My jaw dropped watching it sparkle.
"We are getting married!" she said, her voice sounded so happy and her smiles can brighten the whole room.
Parang hindi ako makapaniwala sa nakikita, nakatingin lamang sa kaniyang kamay na ngayon ay may suot na singsing.
"What the fuck...you're marrying this guy?!"i gasped, napahawak sa bibig at di makapaniwala.
"I'm getting married!" she announced, her heart racing with happiness. Napatigil ako dahil sa kaniyang anunsyo. She's my friend and now she's marrying Nicco's brother?!
"Oh my ghad! When? You proposed to her?! How come i didn't know?" I stood up rushing to hug her, napasigaw pa sa sobrang excitement.
"He proposed to me when i visited him and joined their family dinner. I really thought it's just a normal night but then he came up with the surprise,"
"What happened, mommy? You jumping," Luka excitedly asked and hugged my thighs. Natawa ako at kinarga ang anak.
"They're getting married, sweetie,"
"Yep, and you'll be there with us, okay? I want you to be the ring bearer and then your sister will be a flower girl!"
"Are you excited to choose your suit, little man?" Malik asked, ginulo ang buhok ni Luka.
"What about me, dadda?" Lily asked. Kinarga siya ni Malik, naaaliw.
"Of course, you'll be the prettiest princess there,"
"I can't wait, mamma," Luka exclaimed.
