(A year later, when Lucy was five.)
I start coughing. "Mama are you okay?" Lucy asks. "Yes, I'm fine." I smile. But my magic is draining away. If a mage's magic drains away, death follows. "Lucy dear, can you please give this to Natsu?" I ask, passing her a bracelet. It had a flame charm with a picture of a golden key. Igneel and our family's new crest. (For later) I handed another one to her, but it was a necklace version. "Lucy, wear this one." I say. She nods.
She runs to the garden again. After a few hours of playing, she comes back. "Mama, I'm hungry." She says. I get the cooks to make a little snack for her. She eats her grilled cheese happily. "Lucy, I'm sick. I don't have many days left." I say sadly. "What? H-How come?" She inquires, frowning. "My magic is going away. I sorry darling." "Oh. O-Okay." She says wistfully.
After dinner we go to sleep. But I feel my spirit slipping away. "Bye Lucy and Jude. Make sure you take care of each other." I whisper, and a bright light takes me to the other side.
