=====================

Two months into dating Sirius Black you already knew there were going to be no bumps in the road ahead. Your relationship was full of laughter as well as passion. Harmony as well as the perfect amount of chaos.

You got along with each other's friends. You never argued. You supported each other in everything. It was very clear to all that you had both fallen hard.

The fact that you were in the year below him was your only issue as a couple since it meant you couldn't spend every single waking second together. His friends and yours would tease you both for your attachments but it was all in good fun. Because really they were just happy to see you both so happy.

So when James announced that he had begun dating Lily Evans, Sirius was of course ecstatic. You less so when he shared the news with you. Though, you tried to hide that fact.

The truth was, you and Lily had never really gotten along. You weren't entirely well behaved in school meanwhile she had always been somewhat of a stickler for the rules and so the pair of you had butt heads on more than a few occasions. Which as a result meant you tended to stay out of her way most of the time.

You didn't mention any of this to Sirius as you decided it probably wasn't relevant. I mean how much would the boys really want to hang out together while with their girlfriends?

Turns out a lot. The same amount in fact.

You were walking with Sirius, his arm slung around your shoulder, joking about something together when you noticed a head of red hair sat with the boys at the Gryffindor table. You came to a slow stop in the entrance hall causing Sirius' arm to fall from your shoulders as he turned to look at you curiously.

"What is it?" he asked.

"I didn't know Evans would be there" you replied without thinking.

"Oh. Well yeah. Her and James spend a lot more time with each other now since you know, they got together and everything" Sirius said casually. He then eyed you suspiciously. "Do you not get along?" he then asked.

"That's one way of putting it" you replied, trying to hide the bitterness in your tone. Sirius was thoughtful for a moment.

You could be pretty fearless and he had never heard of you wanting to avoid anybody. So it was news to him that you had some unspoken feud with Lily Evans, of all people. One that was potent enough to make you want to refrain from being in her company altogether.

"How come I didn't know?" he asked. You stepped forward and began to play with his tie absentmindedly whilst his hands came to rest on your waist.

"I don't know. You seemed so happy for James I didn't want to rain on your parade" you admitted. You then shook your head at yourself and looked up at him. "You know what, it doesn't even matter. I'm sure it'll be fine, let's just go and sit with them" you decided to suck it up. Sirius chuckled at you.

"I've seen you showdown with McGonagall" he commented, his eyes sparkling at the memory. "What makes you so scared of Evans?" he added curiously. Your head snapped back to him at this comment.

"I am not scared of her. I avoid her for everyone else's sakes. Our arguments are never exactly pretty"

"I don't believe it" he said, placing his fingers under your chin. "Everything you do is pretty"
