Dedicated to Coslata16

One thing Oren didn't want to do was miss a beat with God.

And Asher.

He was a fool in love and that sometimes, well most times got his heart shattered.

Even now as a believer, he still found it hard to discern when it was the right moment to act and when it wasn't and maybe after the conversation with Everest the day before, he made a mistake.

"Oh my freaking gosh!" He'd heard his friend exclaim as he studied his Bible passively.

"What's that?" He had to ask as he watched the incredulous look on Everest's face

"It's Asher. She wants to know Jesus" he echoed in excitement then his smile died  "Oops"

"What happened?"

"You're not supposed to know that"

Oren honestly couldn't stop laughing. She was ridiculous.

In a way he liked.

"So you can just act like you didn't hear that...right?" Everest asked hopefully and he raised a brow

"There's deceit in that, you know"

Everest sighed   "She will so hate my guts"

"Relax, brother" Oren chuckled  "You'll be fine, she'll be fine"

If only he'd just let Everest go ahead...why had he gotten involved?!

Even then as he watched her leave her seat, he almost lost himself.

Oh Lord, guide me. I don't want to go faster than you.

He'd prayed that solemnly, desperately needing God to help him.

After the show he was drained. He knew he needed space to pray. He was slowly letting anxiety creep in and that wasn't good. He drank some water and met some fans before meeting Penny's mother Linda.

Penny was just a younger version of her mother, he could tell.

He gestured to Everest that he needed a minute and his friend nodded in understanding.

He pulled out his phone to reply to Jaden's text.

He'd missed him these past weeks.

He continued packing up his guitar.

"Are you in a hurry to leave?"  He heard a peculiar voice ask.

"Asher" her name left his lips in a breath, he was dazed instantly.

"I just want to say, I'm sorry" she started to say and his heart melted.

"Asher..." He closed the distance between them, taking her hands   "I'm the one who's really sorry. I've been too forward"

"Trust me, you've not" she shook her head

"I feel like I'm so much in your space, you can't even feel at peace with me"

"No...it's not you, seriously"

"Then who is it?"

"Me"

He opened his mouth to protest but she beat him to it  "—before you say anything, I need Jesus. Can you give Him to me?"

His heart felt like mush and his knees felt like they'd give out.  "Of course I can!" He smiled as his hold tightened

Her sparkly eyes shone once again, fascinating him as always.

Someone cleared their throat, and they both raised their gazes to find the people who were left all staring. Oh well.

"Change of scenes?" He asked and she nodded immediately and her fingers entwined with his setting his heart on fire.

The same cool breeze of the night was always familiar and particularly tantalizing with her by his side.

He felt like they could hold hands forever!

Easy, brother

His subconscious chided and he let out a tensed breath.

They stopped on a quiet field and he set down his guitar and laid on the grass, his arms spread as he watched her with animated excitement.

She crossed her arms over her chest  "What are you doing?"

"Embracing all of creation with a beautiful girl"

He saw her mouth open and shut again before she blew out a tensed breath.

She was flushed.

Why was that so fulfilling to watch?

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"Everything " he grinned widely  "Now come on, join me" he requested patting the spot a healthy distance beside him.

She reluctantly sat with her legs curled up and pressed to her chest.

He shifted his gaze to the stars, a smile etched on his face. He was so grateful to have to walk her down this path.

"You have no idea, how long I've waited, how long I've prayed for this day" he confessed, his gaze still on the sky.

She was quiet.

"I bless God's name for you" he continued, only then meeting her hooded gaze.

He sat up and held out his hands  "Let's pray"
