"The city surrendered," Aika said, as both of them looked towards King's Landing, from further away in Kingswood.
"My decisions brought us only defeat," he clenched his fists.
"As if any of us had other choices," she thought of Aegon and Heleana, and Jace... "But now, you and I are given a choice," she continued, "to either continue being pawns of this game, or quit it."
While Aemond was silent, Aika was afraid of what he might say. He turned to her and caressed her cheek, making her look into his eye.
"The war ends here for me," he said firmly, "I promised you an eternity of love, once I defeat Daemon. I won't gamble our chance of an eternity with you with anything else," then he planted a light kiss on her lips.

Rhaenyra walked through the castle, trying to ease the weight pressing on her chest. The war wasn't over, but she needed a brief respite to grieve in solitude.
Her eyes welled with tears, though she refused to let anyone see her vulnerability. As the murmur of the servants filled the halls, she quietly slipped into a nearby room, which she knew belonged to Aemond, and sat at the desk, seeking a moment of quiet.
The fireplace still was burning, so the room felt strangely comforting.
One of the drawers was slightly open, and her curiosity peaked as she opened it wider and saw countless envelopes in it. She casually opened one, and scanned the content, then looked at the other one's covers, noticing that all of them were for Aika.
Even with all of her hatred towards him, she couldn't fully demonize him.
"These aren't for anyone's eyes," she said before dumping all of them into a fireplace.
"Your Grace, are you here?" She heard one of her guard's voice.
"Come in," she ordered.
"We found Caraxes' body, but couldn't find Daemon Targaryen anywhere... Everyone who saw the fight confirmed that all three dragons and their riders sank into the lake, near God's eye... Nothing else is known," he said after entering, "I am sorry for your loss."
Rhaenyra nodded, lowering her head, "what about Aemond and Aika?"
"Their bodies were never found as well, but according to the news that came with ravens, some saw the huge black dragon flying from Kingswood, towards the Narrow sea..." he paused, "the maester asked about what should he write about Harrenhal..."
"Tell him to write that all three died there," Rhaenyra said lastly, as she faced the fireplace, watching the last pieces of the paper burn into ashes.
