"Are you guys sure that you don't even want to look at the other houses?" Indigo offered, standing in Caspian's living room, watching Paris and Sasha.
Well, it wasn't going to be Caspian's living room for much longer. The two girls glanced at each other then just shrugged their shoulders. "This is going to be perfect for us."
"There's only one bedroom," Indigo pointed out. Because, obviously, this place was meant for single folks. Indigo thought the first thing that Sasha and Paris would want is separate sleeping quarters. Indigo loved these women more than anything and she could easily remember how badly she craved her own space.
"It's not like Sasha is going to be around much anyway. I don't want to move again when she decides that she's done living on with this pack and then I have to downsize."
Indigo tried to keep her mouth trained in a neutral expression, but could feel the corners curling upwards. "So, I take it things are going relatively well with that big alpha of yours?"
Sasha blushed. Sasha actually blushed like a teenager being teased about a crush. "He was very kind and advocated for me, for both of us, at the meeting of the alphas. And I thought he was going to rip that fucker apart when he started confessing all the shit he knew about."
'That fucker' was the man who kidnapped Anabelle and Indigo and had attempted to take Sasha and Paris. His name was something bland and white, because of course it was. He took the truth gas and all of his cocky swagger had fallen away like ash. Indigo thought she had been ready for it. She thought there was nothing else she could learn that would shock her. She had been wrong.
Andrew's first wife, his mate and Sasha's mom, had complications with Sasha' birth that impacted her fertility. That is what started all of it. A woman who sacrificed her body to have a child was not enough for Andrew. He needed more. And when it was clear that trying to abuse her into having more children wouldn't work, he got rid of her. And found a pretty, young new wife with good genetics.
Sasha became a reminder of how Andrew's mate had failed him. Sasha was the daughter who ruined Andrew's mate.
Indigo was the way he was going to keep having babies, making sure his alpha line would remain. But Indigo's body refused to accept him, her wolf fighting with everything she had. Indigo considered herself incredibly lucky to not have gotten pregnant by such an awful creature.
When Sasha and Indigo managed to escape, it was like the last straw finally broke. Andrew was losing and he couldn't take it. He had started behaving erratically. The two women were supposed to be his secret, but he started announcing that they were gone, was desperate to get them back. He would stop at nothing and his loyal pack was either blissfully blind to it or aware and along for the ride.
When he admitted everything, the alphas around were quick to take action.
"I'm almost a little sad I didn't let Bentley kill him. He deserves to rot," Sasha said indifferently, stare down at her nails.
"Between Caspian, Forest, and Bentley it's a miracle he was able to walk away," Paris agreed.
"It's better not to kill men like him," Indigo stated, placing her hands on her hips. She thought she would feel a little more guilty for being a murderer, but it was oddly liberating. "Andrew deserved to die. This guy might have too. But with people like him, being shamed and cut out from your own pack is almost worse. No power, no status, no money. He has nothing that he deemed to be so important."
Sasha gave out a triumphant huff, nodding her head as if this pleased her.
What had happened to them was awful. Indigo would never wish it on another living, breathing soul. But there was no changing the past. And the future was looking mighty bright.
