Caspian did his best to comfort his friend, but Forest was wide eyed and entirely dazed. He was guided to a stiff chair at the kitchen table where everyone else crowded around. Indigo clung to Caspian whenever he was within reach. Paris and Sasha hugged each other tightly, Bentley lingering behind his newly found mate.

"Okay, are you sure she didn't just leave to grab some groceries or something?" Caspian asked gently.

"Her car is here," Forest said blankly, staring down at the wood grain. "The back door was left open. She would never do that. She wouldn't."

"She's going to be alright, Forest. We're going to get this figured out, okay?" Caspian soothed.

"She's pregnant," Forest blurted, eyes suddenly filling with panicked tears. "We found out a couple weeks ago, but didn't want to tell anyone because of her miscarriages." His voice started to shake. Caspian laid a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.

Indigo's stomach hit the floor. This was because of her. This was because she was foolish enough to think that she could outsmart a man who had far more resources than she did. This was because she thought that she might actually deserve something good and kind in her life for once.

"I can go back to him. I will go back to Andrew," she announced.

"No," Caspian snapped immediately, then caught himself. "Besides, we don't even know it was him. We are a new pack with a damaged past in a world of hot-headed emotional alphas. It could have been so many people."

"It was him," Indigo said flatly, though she admired Caspian's attempts.

She knew it in her bones as soon as Caspian had said that the vehicle didn't belong to Bentley. It was a nice SUV, far nicer than a vehicle the pack could afford. On a day with lowered warriors milling the grounds. And it had gone straight for Anabelle's and Forest's house. It was all too coincidental. It was all too perfect. And that is just how Andrew liked things.

"Did you tell him?" Caspian demanded, turning to Bentley. "Did you tell Andrew that we were coming to see you? Surely, you must have put two and two together. And you didn't know that Sasha was your mate this morning."

"I didn't," Bentley vowed, eyes saddening when he saw how Sasha automatically moved away from him, clutching a trembling Paris tighter to herself. "I wouldn't have made any judgments without talking to you first."

"Chase," Forest rasped. "He was there when we were talking about moving the guards around. He was close enough to overhear some parts of our conversation the past couple of days. I noticed him lingering around more, but I thought it had something to do with him maybe feeling apologetic."

"Andrew must have gotten to him somehow," Caspian mused.

"He has my mate," Forest choked out.

Paris looked like she was on the verge of fainting. Sasha was faring better externally, but Indigo had known her long enough to see the fear in her eyes. Forest was falling apart, the fear for his mate and their unborn child tearing him up.

"Caspian, I have to go to him. There's no other way. He's going to keep coming after me," Indigo insisted. "I will leave if he returns Anabelle safety and while we are trying to negotiate with him, Sasha and Paris can get out of here and find somewhere safe for now."

"Sasha is going to be safe with me," Bentley boomed, gaze darting over to his mate.

"And you aren't handing yourself over, Indie," Caspian added. "Even if you weren't my mate, I wouldn't support it. He was awful to you. And he could be chasing Sasha just as much as he's chasing you. I know you think this is the move to save everyone, but it might make matters worse. Splitting up is not the best course of action right now."
