"Mommy, when's my new friend going to come? He's gotta be super big by now," Kenric said, his big brown eyes blinking up at me.

I was lying on the couch reading a book while Keefe was at work. Last I'd checked, Kenric had been in the kitchen having lunch.

"C'mere," I said, sitting up and pulling him onto the couch with me. "Do you want to say hi?"

Kenric's eyes lit up, and he put his face close to my stomach. "Hi, little brother," he whispered.

I gasped lightly as I felt a kick.

"What?" Kenric asked eagerly.

"I think he can hear you, baby," I grinned.

"Really?" Kenric exclaimed, bouncing once next to me. "Do you think we'll be best friends?"

"Hopefully," I answered, lightly pushing his hair out of his face. "Are you excited?"

"Uh-huh! Do you think I'll be a good big brother?"

"The best. I love you, my sweet boy,"

"I love you too, mommy."
